Even though nothing seemed exceptional to me, I think it's fair to say that the food in this historic Testaccio restaurant isn't bad, but the price paid (70 euros, including tip) for 2 starters, 2 first courses and a 375ml local wine is, in my opinion, a bit high.

A traditional trattoria serving traditional Roman cuisine. I went specifically for the rigatoni with pajata, which I confirm is very good. The menu features all the traditional Roman dishes, with a special focus on the quinto quarto (stuffed pork shoulder). Service is a bit slow but very attentive. Good value. Worth a try.

This restaurant was the perfect choice for our last meal in Rome. It has a wonderful, authentic Roman feel. The service was fantastic; our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and it's clear they genuinely care about what they're serving. We had the Bucatini all'Amatriciana and Rigatoni al ragu, both of which were delicious, and an incredible panna cotta for dessert. Fair prices and a great experience. If you're planning to go, it's a good idea to book a table ahead of time, particularly for dinner.

TRUE ROMAN CUISINE
The only survivor among Rome's now overly touristy restaurants, where at best you'll find tripe and giblets.
At Checchino, however, you can still find true traditional Roman cuisine.
Sweetbreads, pajata, and grilled granelli (testicles)... a rare find these days.
Excellent wine list: No Romanella

Tuvimos una experiencia gastronómica increíble en este restaurante, una excelente presentación tanto de la comida como de las bebidas por parte de nuestro camarero, también algo de la historia del restaurante y un edificio cercano.
Tenían una comida muy interesante, me hubiera gustado poder ir allí y probar muchas más comidas, pero desafortunadamente era nuestro último día en Roma.
Recomiendo mucho este restaurante.
