A classic and slightly retro place, but in a pleasant way. You will find typical Roman dishes, some hard to find, and also some new ones. The service is so prompt that it is now hard to find. The only-very-slight-flaw is the slightly invasive background music.

Perfect place to taste the most typical dishes of the Roman tradition. the bacon needs more space in the carbonara, cut thin it gets lost a little on the plate. We had a great time, courteous, professional staff, Roman owner available for a nice chat.

Very great, stylishly decorated restaurant with delicious food and comparatively reasonable prices. We had the “Menu degustazione storico” with 6 courses for 65€/person. All very interesting and delicious. The service is very attentive and extremely friendly. We felt very comfortable and would happily recommend the restaurant.

Nel cuore di testaccio, Checchino è una delle più famose hosterie di Roma. Il menù propone i classici primi romani tra cui cacio e pepe matriciana carbonara davvero cucinato come da tradizione. Anche gli antipasti sono i tipici romani, salumi bruschette fagioli con le cotiche e altro tutto ottimo Servizio ottimo e tempi di attesa perfetti Prezzo assolutamente in linea con l’offerta Lo consiglio vivamente per qualsiasi tipo di occasione

04/06/2025: Very well-known and very popular tavern in the Prenestino Labicano neighborhood where you can eat, at very affordable prices, tasty first courses, second courses with side dishes and desserts. I have had the opportunity to have lunch and dinner in this tavern several times on informal occasions and to celebrate birthdays. The staff is always kind and helpful. Recommended
31/05/2025: We've been there several times. The food is excellent, abundant, and the price-performance ratio is unbeatable. The carbonara is highly recommended. Everyone serving you is very kind. Without a doubt, our favorite place in Rome!

12/05/2025: The price has risen to 35 euros. When Koreans visit, they are very happy to show us photos they took with guide Seongil Lim. The appetizers and pasta were delicious. The meat feels tough for Koreans to eat. The cleanliness of the dishes is disappointing.
09/05/2025: I came recommended by a Roman acquaintance in Barcelona and it did not disappoint at all, probably the best meal I have had in my week in Rome and without a doubt the most traditional. The waiter is super attentive and friendly, they had noted my wife's food intolerances and she booked 1 month ago. Fantastic food, few people if you book in advance to stay with the terrace, let yourself be guided by the waiters and enjoy! 10/10 I wish all my meals had been this wonderful. I ALREADY KNEW THIS, BUT REMEMBER YOU CAN ONLY PAY IN CASH!!
