Chahal Sweet Center In Novellara

The owner and his family are very kind and sweet. The food is optimal quality. Always made fresh. Must visit when in italy.

We accidentally discovered a corner of Punjab in the lower Reggio Emilia area. The cuisine is amazing (vegetarian and eggless, according to Sikhism). The menu features typical Indian street food dishes we've never encountered in standard Indian restaurants: Chole bhature, incredibly soft fried bread (Bathure) accompanied by a chickpea curry (of which we were served a generous refill), or Panipuri, small, hollow fried rolls filled with a mixture of boiled potatoes, chickpeas, and onion, sweet and sour sauce, and a spicy, flavored water. Their achaar, pickled vegetables (spiced, of course), is also excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and open to conversation. The place also serves a pastry shop. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

A few days ago, we were in Novellara for a family gathering at the Chahal Sweet Center and were truly impressed. It's family-run, and at the entrance is the shop selling traditional Punjabi sweets and dishes, all homemade. Continuing on, we arrive at the dining room, where we were greeted by the owner, a delightful person who immediately made us feel at home. The dishes were delicious, rich in flavor, and carefully prepared. We loved them so much that we ended up ordering more to take home. A simple but truly enjoyable experience. I recommend the Chahal Sweet Center to anyone who wants to try homemade Punjabi delicacies, accompanied by a genuine welcome.
