Casa Giò In Gaeta

I'm not giving it 5 stars just because when we got to the restaurant... we almost left without even going in!!! A group of screaming children outside, left to graze freely in the street by their parents enjoying an aperitif. A terrible calling card. But, luckily, we decided to go in anyway, asking the staff if there was a risk of those children being at the next table. They assured us there wasn't, and so it was (even though their screams could be heard, far away, even from the "cave"). The interior is clean, pleasant, and original. The staff is extremely kind, welcoming, and very professional. The dishes are prepared by those who know and love their job... delicious, flavorful, and beautiful to look at. In short, an excellent experience that we recommend.

The dishes are well-served and beautifully crafted, and the chef's touch is evident, making this restaurant a favorite. The wine list is average for the selection offered, but a bit pricey. The staff is attentive and courteous. The only real flaw was when, at the entrance to the restaurant, three women were enjoying an aperitif, leaving their not-so-young children behind. They ran, played, and screamed so loudly that they could be heard even in the dining room. Despite the moderate music, this is why the ambience received 3 stars. Recommended restaurant!

A Perfect Evening in Gaeta - Part 1: We received a very friendly welcome and a glass of sparkling wine. From the varied menu, we chose fish carpaccio, rabbit plin, and fish rolls – each course was the finest Italian cuisine. We chose a Chardonnay from Piedmont from the well-stocked wine list. It paired perfectly with the meal. The dessert, a sweet finale, was also excellent. The restaurant itself is located in a small, romantic side street and, thanks to the personal service, conveys an almost living-room-like atmosphere with a typically Italian flair. A place we can wholeheartedly recommend. I'm adding this because, with the new menu, it was a completely different but equally impressive experience! This time I chose meat instead of fish: a fine beef carpaccio, followed again by the irresistible rabbit plin (I simply couldn't resist), and for the main course, a perfectly prepared Wagyu beef. - If you want to treat yourself, eat this Wagyu! - My wife started with a Gambero Rosso tartare, followed by Tuffolo al riccio del Mare, and finished with a fresh panzanella, and was equally delighted. This time, the meal was accompanied by an excellent Pinot Nero. For us, Casa Giò remains a place of the highest culinary art, paired with warm hospitality. Everything is just right here – from the first greeting to the last glass. It's a shame that Casa Gio is 1,100 km from home.

A dinner we won't soon forget... dining inside a Roman cistern is something you don't get every day and makes the evening special in itself. The service was attentive and friendly. We tried several dishes: the tuffolo with sea urchin was amazing, the linguine with bottarga was delicious, the panzanella was fresh and delicious, and the Morro di cod was truly excellent. The desserts didn't disappoint either; in fact, they ended the dinner on a high note. We'll definitely be back!

Discovered by chance, welcomed with the professionalism and hospitality of very knowledgeable and passionate people. We were invited to dine in the room converted from an ancient Roman cistern, naturally cool and with an extraordinary scenic impact. Great attention to every detail, every course a discovery.
