Caffe' San Domenico In Bologna

I live in the neighborhood and go all the time, so I thought it was high time for a review. I have had a good experience with every single member of the staff. They always go out of their way to help me (I have a mobility disability), and for aperitivo, they are super mindful of vegetarianism. There is a warm ambience, everything is delicious, and it is located in a cute part of town. Highly recommended!

Friendly helpful owner, putting up with English who can barely speak Italian. Great spot for people watching whilst drinking good beer and eating great food, highly recommended.

The bar would be very elegant and in a beautiful location opposite the church of San Domenico in Bologna. The cappuccino is good, as is the welcome, but the croissants are industrially made, and the place itself needs to be cleaner, both on the tables, which are sticky. The floor should also be swept, even in the corners of the tables, and washed so the chairs can slide across the floor. Good for opening early.

I arrived at this bar for the first time on the morning of July 23, 2025. After climbing the steps at the entrance, I entered, carrying my elderly cane, examining the vast selection of pastries (arrived by van at 6:55 a.m.) and noticed a young barista with Asian features. I asked for a sweet pastry and she gave me one defrosted in the microwave, which flaked just by looking at it. I asked for a cappuccino without foam and, after having given it to me, I carried the cappuccino, pastry, and glass of water to a table in three steps. When I sat down at the table next to me, I noticed two tables occupied by Filipino women, each carrying a round metal tray for carrying cups from the serving counter to the tables and vice versa. I, however, did not receive this courtesy from the Nepalese barista, as if it were some sort of discrimination against me. To go to the restroom, I found another step, just like at the entrance. There are tables both inside and outside. The atmosphere is pleasant due to the presence of people of foreign and Asian origin. Observing the way the cured meats are handled for the sandwiches, I would never buy them from them.
