Picture this: you’ve been traveling with a two year old for the last 24 hours and you get into the area with no more milk, which he always drinks before bed. The problem, you arrive around 11pm so all the grocery stores are closed. Despite some fight from the toddler, he falls asleep. Until 2:30 am when he screams louder than ever before (which you didn’t know was possible) and you are scrambling to find milk SOMEWHERE. No mini marts, nothing. Suddenly you remember that places with coffee usually have milk and -tada!!- Caffé Nelli is .5 km away. You go in, they speak English! Hooray! And their answer to the key question, “do you have milk?” Becomes the highlight of your visit to Italy so far. You pay a very reasonable price and they give you the goods. Fantastic! Wonderful! I am so grateful that they are open late and had exactly what I needed!!

Nelli is much more than just a tobacconist: it's a go-to place, especially for those looking for a reliable, welcoming place that's always open when everything else is closed. I've been there several times, but the experience that deserves a special mention is the late-night breakfast, a real treat for those who experience the city outside of normal hours.

A popular meeting place for many Lucca residents before heading out of town or for breakfast on their way home. The staff are friendly and the place is clean, with a lovely veranda inside. It's also a great place for a quiet drink, as the noise level is low.

27/10/2025: We really enjoyed our time at Trattoria da Carlino! The restaurant is welcoming and stands out for its excellent value: the dishes are tasty, well-prepared, and slightly cheaper than other restaurants in the area. One dish that absolutely deserves a special mention is the seafood ravioli, truly delicious! We discovered this place in 2022, during a vacation in Marina di Pietrasanta. This year, we decided to return, and it was a complete success: we've been there three times, twice with friends, and everyone was satisfied. The owner is very friendly and helpful: one evening when the restaurant was fully booked, he remembered us and, since we'd stopped by a few days earlier, found us a table anyway. A gesture we truly appreciated! In short, an authentic and sincere trattoria, where you eat well, spend a fair amount, and always feel welcome. Highly recommended!

18/11/2025: Finally, a classy place in Viareggio (and there aren't any others like it), with great music and a friendly atmosphere! Their drinks are excellent and the service is excellent! Yesterday, I ordered a "capri" (a drink they created), which I highly recommend and which they gave me a detailed explanation of! With my drink, they brought me a generous bowl of chips and a tray of delicious appetizers!
16/11/2025: It's always a pleasure to come here. The staff are all very kind and always attentive to providing excellent service. The aperitivo is a must. Excellent cocktails, and the pinsa and costoni are delicious. It's undoubtedly the best in the area. The breakfast pastries are also delicious.
