We returned for Women's Day to enjoy a slice of Sacher torte, which we found exceptional in November 2025. Unfortunately, what they served us was a jam and chocolate cake that had nothing in common with Sacher. We reported this to the manager, who, without responding, turned his back on us and left. The incident left a bitter taste in our mouths due to the poor manners shown and which was not in keeping with the elegance and style of the establishment.

It is worth a visit just for the historicity of the place.

A must-see in Naples, this historic cafe and pastry shop is often crowded, but for good reason!

What can I say? Its reputation speaks for itself: a super elegant place, with heavenly sfogliatella, zeppoline, babà, and Santa Rosa.
The only downside is that if you order your food at the counter and not at the tables, the staff behind the counter can be a bit unfriendly and unsmiling (perhaps due to the crowds, who knows), but that doesn't mean I don't highly recommend it; the taste and quality of the products surpasses everything else.

The best sfoliatelle I've ever had! I recommend getting it to go, as sitting down for breakfast on the terrace can be quite expensive—a big difference if you order takeout. Two coffees, a pastry, and a sandwich came to €36. There are much cheaper places, but the quality of the food there is exquisite, and it's also in a great location to start a day of sightseeing.

Maybe I'm not rich enough to sit in this bar... 5 euros for a coffee, 6.50 for a croissant, etc. I settled for a good coffee and a cake at the counter, paid for accordingly. It's a shame that the bartenders are so rude. Usually, people of a certain age thank you and say hello, here it's not even done at the cash register. I live in the North and we believe in the kindness and cheerfulness of the Neapolitans then... we enter the Gambrinus and all these nice thoughts fall upon us... but you don't care, you have the name and you don't need good publicity. I thank you for your courtesy. It's a real shame that you're not the bartender. Unfortunately, I received the same treatment from the same robust gentleman a year ago, so I'd say 2 out of 2 seems excessive to me. Naples is full of bars where they welcome you with the smile and friendliness of the Neapolitans. Good work and anyway, thanks.

Top.
History and tradition.
Goodness and elegance.
The only flaw: the restroom is underground, and the stairs to reach it are steep and tiring. For elderly or otherwise physically challenged guests, it would be important to create restrooms on the same level as the dining room, at least for those who sit down to consume.

Historic, very elegant café.
We waited 10 minutes and then found a few empty tables around us.
Perhaps the wait creates suspense...
The service and friendliness were good, but we only had drinks and nothing to eat.
Very high prices.
The experience was pleasant nonetheless.
A very positive note was the black man who managed the restroom downstairs.
Quick, clean, and he sorted people out with kindness and a smile.
A foreigner, but with great Neapolitan spirit.

I expected much more given that it is one of the most famous bars in Naples.
