We stopped off after our visit to the ruins and the owner Zia Enza served us a hearty meal of meat, potatoes, salad and complimentary oranges. She regailed us of her experience of the earthquake and couldn't have been nicer. A must for lunch if in the area.

After our cultural tour around the remains of the Belice Valley earthquake, hungry we stopped at this bar in Poggioreale. We were welcomed very well, made to sit in the room, we were undecided about what to have and the lady suggested a nice freshly made platter with cured meats, cheeses and sausage, accompanied by fragrant bread with homemade oil, really excellent. Furthermore, to crown our day, we were lucky enough to meet Mrs. Enza (mother of the lady who welcomed us), who survived the Belice earthquake, and very kindly satisfied my curiosity by telling us about that disastrous night. A very sweet and kind lady, she also offered us some cedars to take with us. If you find yourself passing through Poggioreale, I highly recommend a stop in this bar, among culinary delicacies and true history.
