Cafe Noir In Ostuni

This is a review for both Noir restaurant and Nautilus fish shop, but I have had to change the wording as Google won’t allow the exact same review for both. We started at Nautilus and chose our seafood - salmon, octopus and porgy. We then asked for all to be grilled and served to us in Noir, which was a bit tricky to communicate initially. The Nautilus people could not have been more friendly and helpful. They helped us select fish and suggested alternates. Which given we didn’t speak Italian, and their English was ok, worked surprisingly well. We then went to Noir. Not much atmosphere, and even though there were only 4 other tables, our meal took a very long time to prepare. Half the main serves came out in around 15 minutes with the side courses, then the rest around 30 minutes after that. The waitstaff seemed pretty disinterested or busy in other things, and we had to ask for things a few times. Overall, the seafood was super fresh and tasty, but the clunky restaurant service meant it didn’t work well for a larger group of 6. The restaurant ambience is also pretty basic. These things considered, the meal was definitely very expensive for what it was. We saw some other customers with lobster pasta - and had we known better and /or chosen better that’s definitely what we would have tried. Recommend booking as the fish shop seems to close around 8, so the restaurant also finishes up quite early.
