Malga Gampenalm In Funes

We stayed one night while hiking the Alta Via 2 of the Dolomites. Our compliments to the staff for their kindness and hospitality. The warm, family atmosphere and generous breakfast set us up for the next leg of our journey.

A very warm and friendly welcome – you immediately feel welcome. The food is outstanding: From the appetizer to the dessert, a real surprise from the small kitchen. The accommodation is simple, clean, and absolutely fitting for an alpine hut. It's not exactly a hotel-like experience – but that's precisely what makes it so charming. Excellent value for money. A definite recommendation!

I stopped for lunch. Good cuisine, featuring Tyrolean mountain specialties.

We stopped for lunch at this mountain hut after a lovely hike. The typical South Tyrolean and Austrian dishes were delicious, including the desserts. The atmosphere was relaxing and the scenery breathtaking.

Beautiful place, excellent food and great service.

A beautiful mountain hut with a view of the Odle. The owners are really kind and attentive. The food is very good and the price is fair. From here, many paths start towards other mountain huts or towards the Genova refuge if you want to go higher.

I'm torn about this review. The surroundings are top-notch. The food: truly excellent (the best at Dolorama). Price: completely reasonable. I also liked the various lounge chairs outside. Unfortunately, the accommodation in the shared room wasn't so great. The hosts couldn't do anything for my snorer. (Due to my tinnitus, earplugs aren't a satisfactory solution either.) However, the camp was in the basement, with correspondingly humid and stuffy air (only basement shafts for windows). Added to that was the moving of chairs from the restaurant above, and that loud hand dryer by the restrooms next door (suggestion: a timer). The latter is certainly a bit petty, but I don't think a basement is a good place to stay, even on the mountain. This camp isn't shown in the website photos.
