Trattoria da Monique, Via Casino 45, Castelnovo Monti; even the unusual name of this restaurant for the area makes you suspect there's a meaning behind it. When you discover it, you realize that reality always surpasses fantasy. It's the story of a love, a great love, between Monique and Adriano. They met as young people, when this French girl, daughter of Italian immigrants, returned to her ancestral hometown for the summer holidays, and it was there that she met Adriano, an energetic and pragmatic man from the Apennines. After many ups and downs, they opened this place 40 years ago. Driving past it on the road connecting the mountain capital to Vetto, you almost don't notice it, but then you decide to stop and appreciate its charm. Traditional cuisine, friendly service, and authenticity from days gone by. Fresh ingredients are guaranteed, given the constant comings and goings of workers on their lunch breaks on weekdays. A must-see for all local residents. There are many dishes worth mentioning, including the legendary leek and gorgonzola tortelli, the saffron-filled pumpkin tortelli, the classic fried lamb ribs and seasonal fried fresh porcini mushrooms, a sumptuous venison steak with blueberries, and the magical, self-sufficient ricotta, pear, and walnut tart. For everything else, I'll leave it to your own tastes.

It's truly a trattoria that hasn't changed for 30 years. The food and atmosphere are authentic. A bit like going to grandma's for lunch. The selection isn't particularly extensive, but it's super affordable. The gentleman who went around the tables to make sure everything was okay was extremely kind.
