Bar Fod In Cisternino

One of the only places open in the city center, very convenient. We were a little disappointed with the food, though; the savory dishes weren't all that great. The pastries, on the other hand, were good.

It's one of the few places in the city center open during siesta. We opted for the ice cream and were delighted. It was delicious and the portions were large.

The gelato was beyond extraordinary. No other words. Just reviewed another place in Puglia but Bar FOD was next level. We tasted the almond with apricot (incredible, unlike anything we had ever tasted), mango (best mango ice cream ever, tangy yet velvety), the absurdly smooth hazelnut and fig (such a wonderful, unexpected yet thriving combination) and then the silkiest milk chocolate ice cream of our lives. Do not pay attention to the comments mentioning cashiers handling money with their bare hands: the lovely lady at the counter used a special glove to handle the cash. She was friendly, lovely with the kids and efficient.

A fantastic bar in Cisternino's clock tower, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele 5, for a vegetarian lunch break! I really appreciated the selection of sandwiches, for a quick brunch, tramezzini, panini with local products, and a vegetarian option. Bar Fod is welcoming, in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it.

The ice cream wasn't bad, but they didn't let us try the flavors beforehand and the service wasn't very friendly.

When we eat lunch 🍽️ out, I usually prefer to have coffee ☕ at a bar, convinced that the quality is superior. Today, I decided to enjoy a coffee ☕ comfortably seated 🪑in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the main square of the old town of Cisternino, at Bar Fod, a true local institution. ​The location is stunning, a prime spot for admiring the Clock Tower 🕛 and the typical whitewashed Apulian houses 🏠. We managed to find a table right away, despite the large influx of tourists, especially foreigners. ​The service was fast, competent, and courteous. A charming and professional lady also served us, which made the experience even more pleasant. ​I ordered a coffee, but, unfortunately, the taste didn't meet my expectations. I found it a bit too strong and with a "burnt" flavor, likely due to a blend with a high percentage of Robusta beans and a very dark roast that releases more oils, making the coffee more intense and full-bodied. It must be said, however, that coffee taste is a very personal matter. Although it wasn't to my liking, the café is definitely worth a visit for its location and impeccable service.

Truly delicious gelato in the charming little square in the center of Cisternino. A historic bar with a homemade gelato counter right on the street. Unique flavors and combinations, and good gelato. I had it with cream, which I expected to be better, but it still had a pleasant flavor similar to others I've tried. The staff aren't particularly friendly or courteous, given the hustle and bustle of people serving them. But a smile doesn't cost anything...

A small gelateria, conveniently located right next to the Clock Tower in the heart of Cisternino's old town. It doesn't always have to be a huge selection. We were very satisfied (with the taste and consistency of the ice creams) and visited this bar and gelateria several times during our week of vacation.

A place where you can grab a panini and a cold Peroni beer at an affordable price. The staff is very friendly and speaks fluent English. The products on the counter may not look very inviting at first glance, but once heated and served, they're very tasty. I recommend it!
