Had the granita gelsi with brioche, which some locals recommended to us. It was very good. It's an icy sorbet with a warm brioche.

What can I say... we arrived at Don Paolo by pure chance... first time in Genoa, we went up to the lookout and there it was. As a true Messina I went to challenge his granita... and I was defeated! Specially made Messina granita! The cream…pure poetry!!! The hot and fragrant brioches!!! Thank you Don Paolo for making me feel at home even if only for a few minutes… The only flaw is perhaps the price... a little high actually, but it's worth it!!!

Don Paolo specializes in Sicilian sweets, which are good. The only flaw in my humble opinion is the excessive price, for 5 Cannoli we spent 20 euros, 4 euros each... exaggerated.

In Genoa there are places that cannot be missed... Here Don Paolo is one of those, both because it is an integral part of Spianata, the balcony of Genoa, and because its granitas are a journey into taste! With dehors, but also ok for ice cream or granita on the go.

14/01/2025: We were on New Year's Eve, what can we say about the offer of dishes presented by chef Patrizia, always excellent, shame about the service and the entertainment after dinner which were truly very inadequate
01/01/2025: first time in this restaurant. On a Saturday evening, the place was unfortunately empty... which is disappointing. A lot of variety of dishes to please everyone. They also immediately bring you some frisceu and scones to while away the wait. I am a pesto lover and I take it wherever I go and already when a pesto is good I understand if I will continue to eat well. I assure you that the pesto is top. Then fresh fried mushrooms with a really top breading that is not greasy at all. Who took the meat he said it tasted like butter. We had a problem with the ATM not working and the owner offered us bitters to apologize but it wasn't his problem but the line's so I still recommend cash. I give 4 stars for 2 things.... if you can, don't leave the R.E.M music on repeat, a little more lighting and not the buffet starters... abandoned them... they're a bit sad, especially if there are few people inside the place. For the the rest ate very well. If you want more, they also do an encore... basically don't leave hungry.
