Bar Don Paolo In Genova

I'm returning to Don Paolo after two years, because he's the only one in Genoa who makes a more than decent Sicilian granita with brioche. I should note that in two years the price has increased by 20%, but not only that... unfortunately, the quantity of granita has decreased by another 20%... now served in a glass of water. As for the quality, however, there's nothing to complain about. Always good. Dear Don Paolo... you've built a reputation in Genoa... but be careful not to ruin it with these little things. The price increase is fine, but make sure you fix the quantity: you need a glass at least 50% larger than the one you get now. Don't be a slouch, and above all, don't ruin the image of Sicily and its oriental granita. A native of Catania, that's my word.

Good aperitif with appetizers. A bit pricey.

The staff had lots of patience with us tourists asking them about what ingredients were in each of their arancini and served us with a smile. Arancini and croissants were delicious!! We accidentally spilled a cup of coffee and they were kind enough to bring a new one free of charge

Wonderful granita, coffee with cream, very well made!

I had the brioche with pistachio granita... delicious brioche, clearly artisanal, nice and warm thanks to the heated plate that is rarely used in Genoa, and the granita had a perfect consistency, but the sugar completely overpowers the pistachio, which you can't taste at all, and that's a real shame.

This granita feels like a trip to Sicily!! I had never found such genuine granita outside of Sicily and I can’t recommend it enough

Just came for the savoury snacks to take away - aranchini and a few other bits. €4 each but heavy and well filled. Friendly staff.

Everything was delicious: milkshakes, gelato, and granitas! The brioches are truly Sicilian. The service was friendly and fast, but could be improved.
