Working in hospitality, you should not bring your problems to work. Service with a smile should be your mantra. The waitress serving us did not smile once and nearly threw our drinks at us. Will not be going here again.

We liked this stylish bar so much we came back a couple of times during a week spent in Naples. It's in a great location, next to the funicular linking Vommero with the centre of town. The staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and several of them speak excellent English. Drinks and aperitivo are generous and good quality, but I was most impressed by their own artisan beers (they have seven of them). A little bit expensive, but you get what you pay for.

The idea is already starry in itself: to make the "funicular bar" (of the historic Central Funicular in Piazza Fuga al Vomero) a meeting and resting place, and no longer just a "transit" place. And the intention was very successful. Let's see why. First of all for the style, which represents the shape, with a welcoming external space both on the entrance side of the station and in the adjacent pedestrian area of via Cimarosa, with tables and high seats for those who prefer them, and the internal space between "industrial" and fusion, like the background music selection, always eclectic and pleasant. It is very successful for its substance, for the proposal that characterizes this place as ideal for the morning coffee before starting a work day, for a quick lunch break, for an early aperitif or an evening toast. Versatile as a travel break should be and as pleasant as time to celebrate alone or in company. The cocktails are original, which also enhance the in-house production of craft beers (produced in Cilento), and which includes Lager, IPA, and top-fermented malts. The selection of trays for the aperitif is also artisanal and self-produced, always varied and based on the availability of raw materials, without rhetoric and with some experimentation (such as spicy jams). The table service is competent and above all smiling. An original, innovative, welcoming corner in the setting of a piece of history of the neighborhood and the city.

Maybe because I was busy taking the funicular, in all sincerity I never stopped at this bar. Having a little more time available and not having had breakfast yet, I wanted to try it...in the end regretting never having stopped before. First of all, I would like to highlight the kindness of the staff with whom I had the opportunity to chat. Then excellent coffee and above all I took the polonaise with cream and black cherries which was delicious. Next time I will move a little early to go back and try other products.
