11/12/2024: Il Grottino, the old school always wins.
Historic restaurant overlooking the Rubicone river, indeed, an institution in Savignano! It presents itself in a spartan way, but those who come here want to eat not admire the frescoes on the walls and this is definitely the right place.
The menu ranges from meat to fish through pizzas and is - note of merit - incredibly good. Having said this, in my opinion the fish seems to have an edge, with fresh raw materials and generous portions.
Specifically, I recommend the cold appetizers, the Tarantina mussels and the tagliolini with seafood.
As for the service, no frills, the old school dictates the diktat: tell me what you want to eat and I'll bring it to you; the same goes for the cashier, give me the order that's on the table and I'll tell you how much you have to pay me.
In short, the service is genuine, informal and at times familiar, but I repeat, here you eat and you don't evaluate which wine goes best with which dish.
Definitely a place for families, groups of friends and perhaps not for a first date, but it always depends on the type of couple.
In short, time has stopped at the Grottino, as have the prices which are low and if you want to fill your belly with true Romagna cuisine, now you know where to book.
08/12/2024: Given that it is not a Gourmet cuisine but a trattoria style one that I like so much. The owners are not only attentive but also very nice and the food, including pizza, arrives at an impressive speed despite the packed house on a Saturday evening. We took a fish menu for two and with the starters alone we were already set. I've read some people who speak badly of the cut... bah! My son, who doesn't get along very well with fat, took one (which was enormous) and devoured it in 3 minutes. I tasted it too and it was as tender as butter and as tasty as it should be. Maybe you asked for it well done? That's bloody bloody!
The pizza is average, nothing special but good, better than in other places but it won't be the one to take away any of the well-deserved 5 stars.
I recommend booking on weekends
