When you have more time available, you should leave the motorway and set out to discover alternative routes. In this way, you can find typical places to make a short stop. The stretch between the Firenze Sud and Incisa-Reggello exits is affected in both directions by the works for the construction of the third lane, and queues are not such a remote prospect, far from it. Slowdowns, the norm. So why not take the road between the hills that passes through San Donato in Collina and Burchio? Here it is precisely in Burchio that this shop-restaurant is located where you cannot miss a stop. I haven't stopped for a few years, and the quality has remained the same. You can find first and second courses, cakes, desserts or, for a quick snack, a stall full of temptations: squash, sandwiches, pickles, sandwiches, ham, cheeses, the inevitable in these latitudes liver sauce or exquisite dried almond desserts (from a pastry shop nearby). And then, in another window, you can also find cakes made by the shop. If you are a lover of the genre, you can't help but try the apple pie, what I call the "mash" version: all soft and moist and with zero crumbs. A poem! Well, I would stop (and it's not a given that I will when I have time) just to have a bit of this cake, in addition to the inevitable (good) coffee. Rustic, warm and welcoming place. Clean and essential bathrooms, with some touches of originality: for example, the mirror in the boys' bathroom and the tiled frame around the mirror in the dressing room. Normal prices: you can't expect "low cost" in the typical places in these areas.

July 2024 Burchio is a delightful little village not far from the motorway; upon exiting Incisa/Figline, turn left, towards Loppiano (the citadel is very close to Burchio), and continue straight on. The rooms of the Bed & Breakfast are located not far from the "Bottega". You can park nearby for free and without time limits (however, there are not many parking spaces). The apartment we had was a Deluxe. Really nice and spacious and clean. Equipped with: washing machine and dryer placed in a large drawer; small kitchen with hob with extractor hood, oven, fridge, table; 2-seater sofa bed and armchair; Flat screen TV (the only drawback was that you couldn't see the RAI channels); bathroom with large shower; bedroom. The apartment consists of a large window protected by a railing. The soft lights and warm colors are beautiful. Also access to free wi fi. The staff was polite and friendly. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to find tranquility.
