One of the best restaurants in town. Just good taste and presentation, with reasonable price, no pretentious Michelin BS we tried elsewhere in Sicily that tried too much to impress but failed even in the most basic aspect of cuisine such as the amount of salt! Balata is just pure culinary cuisine, with excellent transparent display of competent chefs at work. (You can even talk to them and ask questions! They’re that friendly). The waiters are friendly and communicative. We just had to keep coming back here and open yet another bottle of their fantastic Sicilian Syrah wine. Can’t believe some clueless clients have them one star. You want huge portion? Go to a pizzeria.
The place is very central, the "Mission Impossible" car park, the place is well looked after and the food is good but not exceptional. The cost is average

Great restaurant. Despite not having a reservation, they managed to arrange a table for 6 people. The food was delicious, both from the regular menu and the daily specials. The ragù bianco was exquisite, as was the pasta alla Norma. The service was very helpful and unobtrusive. Great value. Highly recommend.

I've never eaten pasta with sardines and so I threw myself into it, oh god I would eat it every day... such a dish is a masterpiece.
I was there at Christmas with my happy family, each of us took a different dish and we all made 100 not to mention the meatballs with swordfish, I've never had such good food in my life. Grateful I wish you a happy new year. PS: the service was excellent.

The restaurant was very quiet (mid November). I enjoyed the pasta with sardines - nicely presented and very tasty, The house wine was palatable too. The swordfish involtini I found to be somewhat bland, but on the whole it was a nice mal.

Abbiamo prenotato in questo locale incuriositi dai piatti proposti nel menù. Locale moderno e piacevole, personale gentile, servizio accurato e veloce. semplici e gustosi gli antipasti, ottimi i primi piatti, in particolare gli spaghetti con le sarde e gli spaghetti alla carrettiera (piatto semplice ma gustosissimo).
Carta dei vini con buon numero di etichette.
