At the suggestion of a colleague, we came to try Azzighe - Osteria a mezzo. We booked 2-3 days before, via the website, with a convenient system that also gives availability.
The impact is immediately pleasant: welcome with a cordial and courteous, but direct and pleasant greeting. The place is small and intimate, nice and air-conditioned.
We sat in the small room at the entrance.
Every detail is thought out with creativity and artistic taste, from the decoration of the room and the table, to the presentation of the menu, to the culinary experience designed for the guests, to the choice of background music.
The name of the restaurant "Azzighe - Osteria a mezzo" is in itself a playful cultural manifesto, made up of Livorno words and sayings, carefully chosen and which is fun to discover in the mini dictionary at the bottom of the menu, but which accompany you because also written on the bottom of plates or on posters on the walls.
We chose the tasting menu, 6 courses freely composed by the chef (we wanted to try a dish: we told him and we were satisfied). Plus a delicious amuse bouche and an extra "a ufo", free, as the etymology teaches (ad usum fabricae). The menu also includes
The wine list is interesting: a good choice of small wineries that work with quality. We chose a Tuscan Vermentino with other white grapes, a biodynamic wine: an extremely enjoyable wine that accompanied the tasting menu perfectly.
The person in the room is a professional: he knows how to welcome, he is a professional who knows his cellar and knows how to recommend wines.
The fun thing about tasting is that each dish is shared, because in Livorno doing "a zighene" means halving, dividing a dish, sharing something. And this is an aspect that gives the experience something different, something special.
I won't say much about the tasting dishes. I noticed that there are many well-written reviews and in any case it is worth trying them. I'm just saying that it is a journey that excites the senses, curious, pleasant, substantial (at the end we were full and satisfied) and fun.
What can I say, we will definitely return and I gladly recommend it.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are at excellence. In (almost) everything. Cozy, cozy place, almost underground, soft French jazz music, top location.
The food: apart from the medium cooking of the meat (I wasn't asked how and it went automatically - advice: always ask) everything EXCELLENT. Top wines.
Service: Checca really good host, the kitchen takes too long to bring out the dishes (there are only 20 seats) and that's the only real flaw. They do everything espresso, but perhaps they could prepare the line better.
Price for gourmet fish cuisine: €35-40, without wine. €50 with wine.
What can I say? Go there, it's worth it.

An evening in Livorno but outside the box, original, intriguing and above all sincere: at Azzighe tradition is revisited, if not distorted, in a fun and entertaining way, without forcing and artifice but with imagination and concreteness.
Try the tasting menu where you taste (or rather "zig") from a shared dish. We added a few extra dishes, relying on the chef's creativity and taking advantage of some delicacies from the catch of the day, all with great satisfaction.
Intelligent wine list with very interesting small producers and no "easy" choice among the most popular labels.
Pleasant, attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere: an appropriate price. We will definitely be back!

Thank you for taking us on a beautiful sensory journey. The food and wine we’ve tried left us emotional and nostalgic, and the gentle smile of the lady serving us calming. Highly recommended for anybody who’s not afraid of seafood.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Azzighe restaurant and was deeply impressed. The atmosphere is intimate and refined, perfect for a special evening. Simone, the talented chef, brings cuisine to new levels, reinterpreting traditional Livorno dishes with an innovative and modern touch. Francesca, in the dining room, is impeccable in her service: attentive, friendly and always ready to make the experience unique.
The menu is a journey through the authentic flavors of the region, with particular attention to Slow Food products, thus guaranteeing quality and sustainability. Each dish tells a story, but the almond, fig, extra virgin olive oil and bottarga semifreddo is truly sublime: a perfect balance between sweet and savory, with an irresistible texture. Azzighe is a place where the culinary tradition of Livorno evolves in an excellent way, offering an unforgettable gastronomic experience. I highly recommend a visit!

Di passaggio a Livorno volevamo un ristorante dove mangiare si del pesce ma non banale e devo dire che Azzighe Osteria a meta'ci ha sbalorditi e davvero coccolati e fatto scoprire gusti nuovi e indimenticabili. La consigliamo davvero vivamente.La cura e la ricerca della materia prima d eccellenza, ma anche l arredo del locale sono lodevoli. Che dire dei prezzi ?del tutto in linea per la qualità offerta .

Professionalità, passione, creatività e amore per il proprio lavoro si percepisce in ogni angolo di questo piccolo ristorante a mio parere tra i migliori di Livorno.
Locale molto originale, cucina innovativa con abbinamenti che stupiscono e stuzzicano il palato ad ogni morso.
Un plauso in particolare modo allo Spaghettone con lupini di mare e bottarga….10 e lode.
