Antica Osteria Dal Capo In Padova

A place we stumbled upon by chance, with an intimate, homey atmosphere. The creamed cod and Venetian-style cod are delicious. The bigoli in salsa are a must-try.

A unique experience, I'd say. I asked my friend Marta, born and raised in Padua, to recommend a restaurant that preserves the local culinary tradition, and she, without hesitation, pointed us to Osteria del Capo. As my husband rightly points out, when you talk about a restaurant, you often say, "This one is good, but that one isn't, and that one is so-so." Yet, at Osteria, everything was excellent. A calm, balanced flavor to savor while remembering that the cuisine of Italy's five-star chefs has its sole, true roots here, and only here, in the local traditions of the regions. A true, sincere thank you to the entire staff at Osteria del Capo for treating us to a magnificent evening!

Dinner with a colleague. We split two appetizers and a first course because we weren't very hungry. Everything was delicious. The pear and chestnut tortelli were delicious.

I had a first course: Tagliatelle with mushrooms: the pasta was uncooked and the sauce was dry and inedible. A decent second course and an excellent dessert.

A longtime Padua haunt that's become a tourist stop, with all that this entails. The food is decent, the service good, but the space is cramped. Prices are way out of budget, typical of a tourist restaurant.

We were in this restaurant yesterday for lunch, the food and desserts were very good, the only flaw is the space, very limited because the place is very small.

Everything we love about Italy. Real mama's cooking, not tourist food (although recommended by all the guidebooks and therefore very crowded 😂). Going there is a tribute to the real Italy.

I locali non sono molto spaziosi, ma la cortesia disponibilità e simpatia la fanno da padroni. La qualità è molto buona: eccellenti le tagliatelle fatte in casa con le verdure. Buona scelta dei vini e un buon dessert hanno coronato la cena.

Siamo stati all’Osteria dal Capo per festeggiare il compleanno del mio compagno, e devo dire che è stata una serata davvero piacevole, semplice ma speciale. L’atmosfera è calda e accogliente, sembra quasi di entrare in casa di qualcuno che ha voglia di farti star bene. Abbiamo iniziato con due antipasti tradizionali: baccalà mantecato e moscardini alla veneta. Due classici, sì, ma fatti davvero bene, saporiti e abbondanti al punto giusto. Poi siamo passati ai primi: gnocchi con ragù di coniglio e bigoli con salsa d’acciughe. Sapori decisi, ben equilibrati, si sente la mano esperta in cucina. Come secondi, abbiamo preso il fegato alla veneta e il merluzzo, entrambi piatti tipici eseguiti con cura. Porzioni giuste e grande attenzione alla qualità degli ingredienti. Per dolce, non poteva mancare il tiramisù (buonissimo!) e un tortino al cioccolato con il cuore morbido e una nota leggermente piccante che ci ha sorpreso in positivo. Gli amari ci sono stati offerti dalla casa, un gesto che abbiamo davvero apprezzato. La signora che ci ha serviti è stata gentilissima: ci ha consigliato un vino azzeccato e ci ha anche indicato dove parcheggiare nelle vicinanze, cosa molto utile visto che eravamo in centro a Padova. Il locale è piccolo, con pochi tavoli, ma è proprio questo che lo rende intimo e accogliente. Si percepisce passione, sia in sala che in cucina. In sintesi: si mangia bene, ci si sente a proprio agio, e si esce con il sorriso. Se cercate un posto dove gustare la cucina veneta in un’atmosfera familiare, ve lo consigliamo senza dubbio.
