On Via della Lungara, there's a place famous for a saying: "He who doesn't climb that step is neither Roman nor Trastevere." At Giovanni's, a historic osteria located near Regina Coeli, you can easily climb that step—in fact, you must—if you want to enjoy the delights of the capital's cuisine. A minimal restaurant, with just a few tables, and a few dishes, but truly delicious and satisfying. I tried the tagliolini cacio e pepe and the baked rabbit with potatoes, which were very satisfying. To top it off, a delicious dessert, like the Montblanc. A good white wine from the Castelli di Castelli, which helped with the assimilation of the dish, complemented the meal. I appreciate the great respect for the customer, the efficient service, and my compliments to Concetta for her cuisine. I absolutely must return.

Nice local restaurant vibe. Good food and friendly service. We enjoyed our evening there. Would definitely go again. There were mostly locals there I believe with some tourists mixed in. The pasta portions were maybe a bit smaller than what we got at other restaurants but that meant we were able to order the second course of meatballs and sausage. We were happy with the house red wine (1 bottle = 0,75l = 10€). Highly recommend. 2 starter + 2 pasta + 2 main + 1 bottle house red wine = 57€

Very good quality dishes. There isn't much choice, but the quality is there. Excellent value for money.

If you are not in a rush (service can bw a bit slow) and you wamt great, cheap homemade food in a local atmosphere, this is the place you. want to go to. Next but a bit outside Traversere, it is not touristy and really worth a try.

It is a traditional Roman tavern that has remained unchanged since 1956, with the menu handwritten day by day but with a consolidated weekly cyclicality. It is the home restaurant where you know what you are eating and how it is cooked. A security for those who live nearby and a nice surprise for the occasional customer who passes by via della Lungara and decides, if he finds a place, to stop and eat. Excellent value for money.
