I know the historic city center quite well, so I often walked past without stopping. One Saturday night, when I was in Rome for the Jubilee, I decided to try the cacio e pepe, everything was fantastic, the atmosphere is typical Roman, and the staff is very polite. The only small flaw - but I'm boring - is the location, that if you dine at the tables outside, in Via Della Lungara a lot of cars and motorcycles pass, but all this does not depend on the choices of the restaurant.

It is a traditional Roman tavern that has remained unchanged since 1956, with the menu handwritten day by day but with a consolidated weekly cyclicality. It is the home restaurant where you know what you are eating and how it is cooked. A security for those who live nearby and a nice surprise for the occasional customer who passes by via della Lungara and decides, if he finds a place, to stop and eat. Excellent value for money.
