Disappointing experience. The service was definitely below expectations: the waiter left two out of four dirty dishes for over 20 minutes, ignoring them while continuing to serve the same table. Lazy and inattentive attitude, as if every request were a burden.
The selection of meat was also disappointing: portions reduced to tiny pieces and, compared to previous visits, the quality was poor, with stringy and unpleasant cuts.

Esperienza deludente. Il servizio è stato decisamente sotto le aspettative: il cameriere ha lasciato due piatti sporchi su quattro per oltre 20 minuti, ignorandoli mentre continuava a servire sempre lo stesso tavolo. Atteggiamento svogliato e poco attento, come se ogni richiesta fosse un peso.
Anche la selezione di carne ha deluso: porzioni ridotte a pezzetti minuscoli e, rispetto a precedenti visite, la qualità era scadente, con tagli stopposi e poco gradevoli.

I rarely give five stars to a first "date", but we are very close
In this little place in the center of Cosenza the atmosphere is really nice, with just a few tables in a comfortable room. On the waiter's recommendation I tried some excellent ham, along with some delicious cheeses. But the main dish of the restaurant, for which it is known, is the excellent selection of Tuscan meat, I took a Florentine steak expertly cooked in stone which left me extremely satisfied. The wine list is also good. The price was a bit exaggerated, this left me a little bitter and two stars less for the place).

We visited Locanda del Povero Enzo and had a truly excellent experience. We started with a special appetizer, a selection of six courses chosen by the chef, which allowed us to savor authentic and well-balanced flavors.
For the first courses, we tried the Pappardelle made with Senatore Cappelli flour and pumpkin fiber, with two different fillings: porcini mushrooms on one side and bianchetto truffle on the other, a perfect pairing. We then enjoyed the Maccabuoni "Sazizza e Fungi," a rich and flavorful dish made with quality ingredients that celebrate tradition.
The owner, with great passion, shared the history of the restaurant with us, making the atmosphere even more special. The staff was friendly and attentive, helping make the dinner a perfect experience.
Excellent cuisine, impeccable service, and excellent value. A must-try!

We chose Locanda del Povero Enzo for a dinner with friends, and from the first moment we were struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was impeccable: the staff were attentive, friendly, and eager to share the history and philosophy of the cuisine, making the experience even more engaging.
We began with an appetizer experience, six courses selected by the chef, which allowed us to explore a mix of surprising and well-balanced flavors. Each dish showcased the quality of the ingredients and the care taken in preparation, making the start of the dinner a true gastronomic journey.
For first courses, we opted for two dishes that left us speechless: Pappardelle made with Senatore Cappelli flour and pumpkin fiber, served with two different fillings, one with porcini mushrooms and the other with bianchetto truffle. The combination was perfect, with an authentically flavored pastry and a creamy, enveloping filling. The second first course, the Maccabuoni "Sazizza e Fungi," was an explosion of flavors, with a perfect balance between the savory sausage and the intense mushrooms.
What made the evening even more special was the owner's passionate narration, which told us the story of poor Enzo, adding a touch of authenticity and tradition to the experience.
In short: excellent cuisine, quality ingredients, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel at home. All at a truly reasonable price. Highly recommended!

La Locanda del Povero Enzo è una di quelle perle rare che ti conquistano dal primo momento. La serata è iniziata con un’experience di antipasti, un viaggio in sei portate selezionate dallo chef, che ci ha fatto scoprire sapori autentici e raffinati, con ingredienti freschi e abbinamenti sorprendenti.
Per i primi, abbiamo assaggiato due piatti che hanno elevato la nostra esperienza a un livello superiore: le Pappardelle di farina Senatore Cappelli alla fibra di zucca, farcite per metà con porcini e per metà con tartufo bianchetto, un equilibrio perfetto tra delicatezza e intensità. Poi, i Maccabuoni “Sazizza e Fungi”, un piatto ricco e saporito che racconta la tradizione con ogni boccone.
A rendere il tutto ancora più speciale è stato il proprietario, che con passione ci ha narrato la storia del povero Enzo, regalando un tocco di autenticità all’esperienza. Il personale è stato cordiale, attento e caloroso, facendoci sentire a casa dall’inizio alla fine.
Una cena davvero eccezionale, con un rapporto qualità-prezzo ottimo. Se cercate un posto dove vivere un’esperienza culinaria autentica e coinvolgente, questa locanda è una tappa obbligata!

I celebrated my birthday at the Antica Locanda del Povero Enzo "in Cosenza and I was enchanted by this small inn, where my guests and I were welcomed with grace and elegance.
Dinner was an explosion of flavours, each dish was explained to us with great care, advising us on the pairing of wines
Here I found professionalism and a desire to improve, congratulations to Mr. Ernesto and all his staff.
