After completing a 2.5 hour walking tour.
Myself from Scotland and 3 others from Germany who only met on the tour wanted to grab lunch, this was almost the first place we went past and looked much like any other place around, so we headed in without looking at reviews etc.
I feel bad that some reviews are low,
The service was fine the waitress a little bit scatty, but in a charming way very friendly. It wasn't until we ordered one of the group checked out reviews, so we were not expecting great things.
But we all were pleasantly surprised turned out to be a decent enough meal and reasonably priced, with some free limoncello at the end. A solid 3.5 out of 5 definitely! Would try again.

A typical Roman tavern, they serve genuine and tasty food and the owner is an innkeeper from times gone by with whom we spent the whole evening pleasantly chatting. In the midst of many tourist restaurants, a true oasis of pure Roman cuisine at honest prices. Highly recommended!

A very small restaurant near the Colosseum. That's probably why it's a bit overpriced. The food is gross, but delicious. The kitchen is terribly slow.

Typical restaurant for tourists but recommended. Delicious bread. Rich entry. I had lasagna that could have been a little more filling. The noodles are good. The price is according to the neighborhood and the place.

Chosen by chance, we had lunch for four adults correctly for a normal price for a tourist place
120 e for 4 nice starters, four pasta dishes, 3 66cl beers and an iced tea + the traditional bread basket
Service a little long but 4 coffees/teas offered by the friendly waiter at the end of the meal
Didn't get the details of the bill, but no feeling of having been cheated more than elsewhere (otherwise we stay at home..)
Poorly rated restaurant?, by Americans?, by people who think they are big names?
For us everything was very correct for our lunch

Paid €36 for the wine (4 glasses) but not the best wine for that price. It tasted a bit watered down. Gnocchi was ok, marinara Fresca pasta and cacio e pepe were good, risotto was fine. We ate here after the Colosseum guided tour, so we were hungry and the other restaurants we re full. Sign says they have been around 120 years.
I don't know why there are such terrible opinions, I have no major reservations. Aperol is delicious (and big ;)), tasty ravioli, my friend is also happy with her pasta. Coffee also good. We grabbed a free refill of prosecco ;)
The waiter was very nice, the atmosphere was very relaxed, a bit like in your favorite aunt's kitchen. It's not a fancy restaurant, but it certainly allows you to feel the Italian atmosphere.

Very good service, the best waiter Eduardo, delicious food, good Aperol, appropriate prices, great atmosphere, I highly recommend it, if you are near the Coloseum, it's really worth coming
