I'll start with the good: The resort feels safe. It is quiet in mid September with the older generation. The pools are open with plenty of chairs and no one in them. You have everything you need on site, so you don'thave to leave unless you want to. There is a market, a restaurant, a pizzeria and a private beach. Some bad: The rooms are dated and not well stocked for a week stay. We dont like to eat out, so we rely on a stocked kitchen and a working range. The surrounding location is very barren. There is a small town about 10 minutes away, but it didn't offer too much as far as entertainment, but we did find a coffee shop and a market. The thing I disliked most is that the beach is closed at night. Overall, not a bad place for a family vacation.

I'm already looking forward to the next time! First of all: This review is primarily aimed at German-speaking visitors, and that's exactly my personal opinion – other visitors might have a different opinion. If you read to the end, you'll get a really good tip! We booked our stay (14 days) through a tour operator and only noticed upon arrival that the hotel is a fairly large resort. To our delight, this didn't have a negative impact at any point. In detail: The location: The Akiris is quite a distance from the nearest town, but this isn't a disadvantage, as there's a small grocery store on site where you can buy basically everything you need. Foreign tourists are in the minority, but if you politely point out that you unfortunately don't speak Italian, but do speak English or German, you'll always quickly find a helpful, sufficiently fluent staff member. The accommodation: We had a spacious apartment of about 40 m² with a hallway, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, lounge, and a small southwest-facing balcony, as well as a large northeast-facing balcony, which was already shaded during the morning, making for a pleasant stay. The food: We were assigned a designated table in the restaurant for the duration of our stay – very good, no need to search around for free or "nice" seats! We had half board and were very satisfied with the food. It didn't offer the usual tourist monotony, but solid and varied Italian fare. The beach: Included in our booking was a parasol (also reserved for the entire stay) with two loungers on the hotel's private beach, which is 400 meters from the complex. Great! If you don't like the beach, you can find space at one of the two large hotel pools (swimming caps required!). Entertainment: This is also offered by what we consider a highly motivated team, whose stamina I admire (OK, they're all much younger than me). From childcare (not relevant to us) to gymnastics on the beach, background music there (thanks to Gianluca for his beautiful music selection), and changing evening programs in the (amphi)theater. Internet: I'd like to mention this specifically because I've read criticism about it in the reviews. Mobile internet isn't the hotel's responsibility; that's the provider's responsibility. I couldn't really complain; depending on my location, I had 5G reception and a downlink speed between 3 and 87 Mbps; the hotel's Wi-Fi speed was between 28 and 288 Mbps. However, you can't expect everyone to have good, fast reception at the same time in an approximately 8-hectare facility. With perhaps 1,500 guests, even a gigabit uplink would reach its limits, and a comprehensive campus Wi-Fi coverage would require an enormous investment – who would pay for that? I find it perfectly acceptable if there's good coverage, especially near the plaza and the restaurant, and that was definitely the case. Conclusion: We enjoyed it so much that we're seriously considering spending more vacations at this resort (we've been going somewhere else every summer so far). Pro tip: Antonio, the owner of a small (sports) clothing store on the property, is fluent in German thanks to his youth spent in Zurich and offers guided excursions, both short and long, for 1-4 people. He can be contacted via WhatsApp on-site for further arrangements. He introduced us to Rocca Imperiale, Rotondella, Miglionico, and Matera. Thanks to his knowledgeable and entertaining tours, including his knowledge of special dining spots, this wonderful vacation was an unforgettable one for us!
