Refined restaurant with interesting and imaginative proposals starting from the bread. There are many dishes to try on the menu, all original, which is surprising in the Trastevere restaurant scene flattened by tourism. the service is fast and attentive It perhaps suffers from the fact of being in a very touristy area and could be mistaken for yet another Roman trattoria.

Invited by friends who know the place well Welcome entree with bubbles. Good Excellent Giudia style artichoke with cheese and pepper base. We ordered an excellent Sardinian Vermentino The tonnarelli cheese and pepper with figs are excellent. We concluded with an excellent dessert. I don't know the account. To return

Locale nel cuore di Trastevere ubicato in una deliziosa piazza. Locale accogliente, personale sempre attento alle esigenze del cliente, molto cordiale e professionale. Ottima presentazione dei piatti e qualità dei prodotti. Buon rapporto qualità prezzo e senz'altro da consigliare. Per quanto mi riguarda, peraltro vivendo a Trastevere, da tornare

I have known him for many years, and I always come back with pleasure. We usually come for my wife's or my son's birthday. Very helpful and smiling staff, attentive but not stuffy. The cook is very good and always offers interesting, balanced and tasty dishes. Every day there are off-menu items. Among the many dishes I love his "Pasta and broccoli with arzilla broth (Roman name for the nail ray, poor fish) an ancient dish but with great flavour. They welcomed us with a gift from the chef "Fish meatball on avocado mayonnaise" crunchy and tasty. We had appetizers: Tartare of raw prawns with artichokes and pearls of anchovies, very good, very tender raw artichokes, very balanced followed by a trio of tartare (tuna mayonnaise with avocado and wasabi, prawns and fried seaweed and sea bass and raspberries, this one truly superlative). First, Tagliolini with cheese and pepper and raw prawns, creamy and balanced with perceptible pepper in the background without overpowering the very fresh prawns. As a second course, cod meatballs creamed with chickpeas and black garlic, a real surprise, soft and really good cod with crunchy chickpeas (fried with a mix of oriental spices) on a garlic hummus. For dessert, Namelaka, dark chocolate, salted caramel ice cream and peanut shortcrust pastry and a pumpkin and chocolate Creme Brulee, both excellent. As a wine we chose a white, the Kitz blend from the "Rottensteiner" winery in the Dolomites, fragrant and with an intense flavour. It's not cheap but it's worth everything it costs. It's not easy to park.

We've done the tasting menu and it was absolutely great. So much delicious and interesting food and presentation. The service could be faster or more attentive but to be fair, they were very busy with 3 big groups. We had a lovely evening.

Conosco questo locale da anni e non delude mai, cibo squisito, qualità delle materie prime che ormai non si trova più e servizio ottimo, tutti cortesi e attenti. Prezzi giusti per la qualità che offre.

18/02/2025: I'm not giving 6 stars just because you can't 😄 best lunch in Rome ever (and I've been to Rome at least 20 times!). EDOARDO fantastic waiter, I literally cried with laughter, not to mention his attention to detail: birthday candles on the tiramisu and a small complimentary bottle of wine. More than a lunch, an experience, Rugantino rightfully in my top #3 taverns in Trastevere!!! Speaking of food, how can we not mention the artichokes, the carbonara, the cacio e pepe but a special note for the Roman saltimbocca: so good that I couldn't even take a photo of it.
17/02/2025: The best restaurant in Rome! The food is delicious and well served, the ambience is very typically Italian and the server was AMAZING. A reservation is usually needed but if you arrive right when they open their door as 12:30 pm you can get a table for a 2 or a small group. Do not skip this restaurant because the menu outside is only in Italian; they do have a menu in English. We ate a carbonara and the mix of 6 meatballs (polpetas) which we shared. They offer mezza bottles for a couple. BRAVISSIMO!

Ai Balestrari Porta Pia

21/01/2025: Locale che entrando non immagino così grande ed affollato, tante sale e salette ma con possibilità di parlare ed isolarsi nonostante le numerose persone. Locale tipicamente romano con scritte in romanesco molto simpatiche alle pareti con tante foto illustri. Servizio organizzato, veloce e molto cortese. Pizze e piatti tipici romani sono serviti ben cucinati, saporiti ed abbondanti. Buono il vino della casa. Prezzi assolutamente giusti ed in linea con la qualità dei prodotti, comunque molto abbordabili.
20/01/2025: The place is well looked after, with engravings of proverbs and sayings in Roman dialect. We booked with The Fork, our table was located in a slightly awkward area, in the center of the passage. We asked for a change, but were told that the other tables were already reserved. There are glass partitions between the tables which take away some of the "tavern" charm that is needed. We ordered a pasta carbonara and one with a sauce of ribs and sausage: the latter was more successful than the carbonara, but both pastas were a little too al dente. The price of more than 30 euros for two pasta dishes, a quarter of wine and a bottle of water is fair, but we expected something more.
