I was part of a large international group, visiting one of our suppliers not far away in Montebelluna. Our hosts wanted to give us an authentic ‘taste’ of Italy - and that’s just what we got at this family-run, no frills and understated restaurant, with fabulous views from the balcony, looking towards Venice. It really felt like we were sitting in the family’s dining room. The food was classic Italian fare, done very well, and in generous portions. And, of course, the local Prosecco (frizzante - not the spumante that is what you’ll find predominantly in the UK) flowed freely. It really didn’t matter that there was a language barrier: a genuine warm welcome, and obvious pleasure with the dishes they served (and our appreciation) overcame that.
