A small but worthwhile place, quality food and wines with simple and warm service, only 8 tables so you need to book at least 1 day in advance

It's a small, old-fashioned place. The menu is quite extensive and varied, and the prices are good, although the portions are a bit small. Very tasty and well-presented.

We decided to have lunch before going to the archaeological museum, which is almost next door. No reservation needed. We were very well received. Small and simple atmosphere. Excellent food. Definitely go.

Easily one of my favorite osterias in Naples. We went without a reservation and only waited around 20 minutes before getting seated.
We ordered the caprese, linguine allo scoglio, risotto tonno e limone, a white wine, and dessert. Everything was delicious, and the wine turned out to be really good too. Both the risotto and pasta were very flavorful. To end the night, we had the house dessert, the Neapolitan cake, and it was so good that we ordered another one.
The guy serving us was also very polite and helpful the whole time. He welcomed us even without a reservation and handled all the tables, orders, and payments by himself, which was really impressive.
Would have definitely gone back if it wasn’t our last night in Naples. Highly recommend.

A really good local place. Rapid turnover of tables, but not rushed, and a constant queue of hopeful dinners outside attest to its popularity. Typical Italian fare (not pizza) and a good wine list, too. Reasonably priced.

A very tiny place with 8 tables and excellent family traditional food. We asked the owner for his suggestions, and loved all of them. With 2 primi, 2 secondi, wine, water and 1 dessert for two we were billed at 88 EUR before tips. Really worth waiting!

I visited Osteria da Carmela, and it was a really great experience located on a side street in Naples. The food is traditional Neapolitan, but prepared very, very well.
Some of the highlights included the gnocchi, which were light and fluffy with a rich tomato sauce. The mushroom risotto was also very good, and what I appreciated was that it was not overly heavy or butter-based, but more elegantly prepared without excessive butter and cheese.
The Caprese salad was excellent, with the cheese being truly outstanding. The thinly sliced beef tagliata was very well prepared, properly cooked, and basically melt in your mouth.
For dessert, the panna cotta and the traditional Neapolitan pastries were also a great way to finish the evening.
The dishes can be prepared gluten free which was great . The owner (?) was very accommodating for explaining the menu and what he could make gf . His service was outstanding.
Make reservations far in advance! This is a small 8 table restaurant that sells out fast .
Overall, a very enjoyable dinner experience and definitely a place worth visiting while in Naples. Genuinely warm and very memorable dinner in Naples .

We wanted a slightly quieter and more peaceful experience than the traditional Neapolitan fare (which we love anyway), but this time we were looking for something more intimate and romantic. We tried Osteria da Carmela, and it absolutely lived up to our expectations.
Very good food, generous portions, accommodating service, and a truly intimate atmosphere. There are just a few tables, just the right amount to relax and enjoy a moment of peace. Recommended if you're looking for a quiet, intimate meal without sacrificing a satisfying experience.
