Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations!
I had very high expectations for this historic trattoria. I ordered pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans) and cod with racanat sauce. The pasta e fagioli was more like a baked pasta and beans dish, with the pasta overcooked inside (I don't know if that's the traditional way to make it here, but it didn't convince me). The cod was good, although I expected a little more oomph.
As for the service, it wasn't anything special. It's a shame because the dishes are truly inviting visually and the promise was excellent.

The restyling is beautiful, but where has the old-world flavor gone?
Ristorante Vico della Neve is a piece of Salerno history, and the renovation was undoubtedly necessary. Today, the restaurant is beautifully renovated, welcoming, and with a decidedly refreshed atmosphere that immediately catches the eye. Its cleanliness and contemporary design deserve special mention.
However, while the eye is pleased, the palate yearns for the past. Unfortunately, the restyling seems to have lost the authentic flavor of Salerno's ancient traditional dishes.
A symbol of this change is the historic display cabinet at the entrance:
• Then: It housed the treasures of simple, authentic cuisine, such as the legendary rested pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans) or the unforgettable eggplant slices.
• Today: It has been converted and is sadly used as a simple drinks display.
The current cuisine remains faithful to simplicity, which would be a plus, but the dishes unfortunately lack the natural, authentic flavor that once made them unique. The sauces and condiments that made you feel at home are missing.
In short: A beautiful place to spend a pleasant evening, but if you're looking for the soul of Salerno's traditional cuisine, you risk being left with a bitter taste. Let's hope the cuisine can rediscover the traditional spirit that made this place legendary.

If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine, this is the place. The staff are very warm and friendly, and the food is incredibly delicious. You should definitely come here.

A place that truly showcases traditional cuisine. I tried the dish of the day, poached octopus, and it was exceptional: tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The escarole was also excellent, prepared with fresh ingredients and boasting an authentic flavor reminiscent of true Neapolitan cuisine. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff were truly friendly and helpful, and the service was attentive. An experience definitely worth repeating!

Authentic flavors, homemade dishes crafted with meticulous attention to detail and brought to a far superior level of quality, a quiet atmosphere, friendly and smiling staff (a tribute to the waitress Valentina, who served us with such care and kindness), good value for money, and a deserved mention for their sustainable choices and the exceptionally clean bathrooms we found. Worthy of a full house, I'd say!!

Really nice restaurant with a real atmosphere.
We hat the Brokkoli, eggplant lasagne and genovese pasta. The pasta was top notch - perfectly cooked and really delicious! I definitely recommend it.
Best thing after the splendid food was that I forgot my bag and one of the employees ran after me to bring it back - many thanks for this!
Went there in late April, was okay to get a table. During summertime I recommend to reserve in advance!
