Sunset Bar Al Forte Falcone In Portoferraio

If you pass by Portoferraio, visit its very beautiful forts, it's a shame that Napoleon's residence is closed

We were here in September 2025 and started our circular walk from Portoferraio's harbor toward Forte Stella and then to Forte Falcone. An entrance fee of €10 grants access to this complex. It is very large and offers fantastic views in all directions (see pictures). Built by Cosimo II, it provided both visual and visual protection from the Ottomans. It also offered protection from an attack by a feared pirate. After seeing it from outside, the pirate abandoned an attack on behalf of the French king. It is beautifully preserved and offers a path through this part of Portoferraio. From there, you can't get enough of the blue sea, the town itself, and the surrounding area. We really liked it.

It's okay, worth a look. There's not much to see inside, and the museum itself is a bit boring, but the views from the windows are beautiful. Otherwise, it's always amazing what people created hundreds of years ago. I got to see "Aria von Sommerland" 😉

Beautiful fortress, with terraces from which to admire breathtaking views, and enjoy the sunset with an aperitif at the bar, between the castle towers, highly recommended!!!

The fortress is worth a visit. There are many great photo opportunities to be found there.

Great view, but the entrance fee is too expensive. There's actually nothing special to see, or very little.

€8 entrance fee but worth it for the beautiful views. It was a shame there was not more information in English, but it was still well worth a visit.

Breathtaking views, a well-documented multilingual history of the island, but access to the fort is a bit challenging... Tickets are recommended at the Tourist Office; passes for 6 sites are available at a discounted rate.

Ticket office 8 euros. Medici fortress, beautiful layout and panorama. However, I found very few indications for access to its museum (a bit hidden) on the highest part of the fort. The external toilets closed.
