Reserved for 3 people at 8:30 PM with a 20% discount on the à la carte menu through The Fork. The welcome was okay, but they only added 10% to the bill. I recommend avoiding Saturdays: disorganized service. The Fork didn't publish my review because I uploaded the receipt to prove the above, and this goes against their policy. "London Smoke (in Cogliate)"
Cute place, excellent food, friendly staff... yet the experience at Saldanmazi in Cogliate had the lingering aftertaste of a pack of Winstons.
We were seated next to a charming little fence, which we thought was there to separate the dining area from the children's play area. Nope! Behind that fence was the Smoking Area. Yes, with a capital S and the wind in our favor.
Between appetizers and main courses, we savored the aroma of tobacco in all its forms: classic, mentholated, and "end-of-the-night cigarette after coffee." A truly daring pairing, which frankly we didn't appreciate, but which was served to us free of charge—and with no option to refuse.
At the end of dinner, with the courage of those who have breathed more tar than oxygen, we pointed out the discomfort. The girl at the cash register informs us that those tables are right next to the smoking area, and that the breeze did the rest. Ah, meteorology, that exact science.
Finally, the gem: if it bothered us so much, we should have said so before, not after. Right. Of course. Because when I book a table at a restaurant, in addition to "inside or outside," I should specify: "possibly not next to a giant ashtray."
🔎 Side note (but not too much):
In Italy, according to Article 51 of Law 3/2003 (the anti-smoking law), smoking is prohibited in outdoor areas adjacent to the entrances or areas belonging to public facilities, and since 2021, some Regions and Municipalities (such as Milan) have introduced further restrictions, such as a ban on smoking in outdoor areas unless you stay within a minimum distance (e.g., 10 meters) from other tables.
We're not lawyers, but dining in a cloud of smoke while people smoked two meters away without barriers or social distancing didn't seem entirely in line with common sense... or the law.
A real shame, because the place has so much potential. But breathing in secondhand smoke with the same enthusiasm you'd give a beer-infused shank (which was really good, by the way!)... isn't exactly the best.

We celebrated a graduation and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The atmosphere was beautiful, spacious, and very welcoming, with excellent food.

Siamo andati in un bel gruppo con diversi bambini.
Personale cortese cibo buono.
Tempi infiniti e pessima organizzazione.
I camerieri hanno raccolto gli ordini e sono arrivate almeno 2 birre in più e altre cose nn ordinate. Eravamo molte persone ma questo nn giustifica.
Ci siamo seduti alle 20.30 e abbiamo ordinato alle 21.00 circa i piatti e le cose da bere sono arrivate alla spicciolata dalle 21.30 alle oltre le 22.30 con persone che avevano finito di mangiare da almeno mezz'ora e altre che ancora aspettavano.
Il locale era tutt'altro che pieno.
Un vero peccato perché alla fine nn si è mangiato male.

l'ambiente è un po' dispersivo, il locale è gigante ma i tavoli risultano troppo attaccati.
Il servizio è cortese, ma un po' disattento (si sono dimenticati qualcosina qua e la), e soprattutto lento. Un'ora per ricevere i piatti è un tempo inaccettabile. Ci hanno proposto un antipasto, durante l'attesa, ma l'abbiamo ordinato e pagato... Tra l'altro, alla scelta della carne non hanno chiesto il tipo di cottura desiderata. Il conto è giusto.
