01/01/2026: I was here at the beginning of December, I went to Locri to visit some friends and they told me I couldn't leave without going to eat here. It is about half an hour from Locri, we passed through Gerace (a splendid village worth visiting) until we arrived in Canolo in the heart of Aspromonte (you can also get here by other routes, cycle path and for walkers the Brigand's Path). The location started around the 70s/80s with a small room which then expanded over time and now there is a large room that can also host weddings or ceremonies, the style and furnishings are from the period. Cosimo's welcome is family-like, it's like going to visit a relative, attentive, courteous service and available to satisfy any need. The menu is varied, here you eat the sincere and genuine Calabrian tradition there is little room for experimental cuisine, this is the kingdom of opulence we had a complete appetizer two samples of first course and a grilled (everything cooked very well and with the right flavors) everything was so abundant that anything we didn't manage to eat we brought home. The price if I remember correctly was €30, exceptional value for money. There's a large parking lot, and when it's warm, there are tables outside. Coming here, you quickly go from sea level to mountainside, and the temperature difference is noticeable—about 10 degrees Celsius in summer and winter, so come here with appropriate clothing. That said, I can't wait to return to Calabria to visit him again. If you're in the area, I recommend trying this experience.
