Off the beaten path, you'll find authentic cuisine. Pizzeria Ristorante San Francesco offers just that: traditional Calabrian cuisine, as it should be. Following Google's info (thanks to reviewers), we found this place. There's no showy display designed to impress (the exterior doesn't attract tourists, but perhaps that's a good thing). But inside, the truth comes through: excellent ingredients will win you over. A few dishes, but enough to get to know the area, all homemade with home-grown vegetables (grown directly by the owners). The first courses are delicious, as are the appetizers, pizzas, and second courses. But even the wait before tasting excellent Fileja alla Norma or alla Calabrese is worth it. The flavor explodes in your mouth. Simple, yet genuine and sincere, flavors that are missing from the surrounding tourist restaurants. Added to this is a rare kindness and courtesy that make the dinner even more enjoyable and make you say: I'll be back again (which we did). If you have a car and want to experience the simplicity of Calabrian flavors, I recommend going there—it's really worth it. We've been back three times. Congratulations.

The food was very good!! We had two pasta dishes. Unfortunately, our Italian isn't very good, but we were able to communicate well with gestures, as the waiter was extremely accommodating and friendly. All our requests were met!! Highly recommended!!

While vacationing on the Coast of the Gods, we relied on reviews to have a family dinner at a pizzeria. The route our GPS took us was a bit winding, but it was worth it. In a small village inland from Briatico, there's this pizzeria. It's certainly unassuming, both inside and out, but it's very unique from a gastronomic standpoint. I'll start by saying that, for two people, we didn't order pizza or main courses, but for those of us who prefer first courses and side dishes, we were truly surprised. The preparations were truly well done, with simple but top-quality ingredients that made the dishes particularly tasty (nothing like the same, dull dishes at more renowned restaurants in the area!). Finally, a tomato that tastes like a tomato and so many other flavors that belong to true home cooking, now sadly forgotten or, worse, unknown to most!
