10/08/2025: ...on the ferry, while talking about the sun, they told us, "Don't worry about your pale skin. If you want to leave with your ticket, you can board the ferry before the one you booked." So, red as a pepper, I was already in front of the ferry at 3:30 PM. Too bad it was the one you booked and there wouldn't be one before!
So, two hours of waiting ahead of me. Next to the ferry, this bar and restaurant, "Il Faro," was the only salvation. We sat down, a kind, courteous, and very empathetic young lady arrived. We asked for two homemade gelatos, not pre-packaged ones, and were satisfied with two works of art (the mandorlato with caramelized almonds is out of this world! You have to try it!) and, after an hour, two coffees. For an hour and a half of hospitality, two ice creams, and two coffees, we paid €21, considering that even "in the worst bars in Caracas" 😆... in Italy, dessert costs €7-8 without the spectacular view that's offered there. I think I paid a fair price, also considering that, obviously, on an island, transportation costs for food are higher than on the mainland.
A service deserves a price, and you have to be honest when making certain considerations.
My humble opinion...
02/08/2025: A small pizzeria located along the pier, where the pizza is truly excellent, made with a light and digestible dough and top-quality ingredients. The desserts are superb; I'm a fan of the babà, which was superb. The staff is extremely kind and professional, and the location is perfect, offering a truly enchanting view of the harbor and the island. In short, definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Ponza.
