A great mix of home-style cooking and more refined dishes. Everything tasted excellent, and the service and house wine were excellent! Fair prices, too.

We had a lovely experience at Pepe Nero. The service was good—there's a €2 cover charge per person, but the restaurant offered us two portions of bruschetta at no extra charge, which I guess is part of the deal. A nice touch. The food was excellent. We both had the sausage with broccoli, which was really tasty, and the rest of the menu looks very promising. I can't wait to return to try more. Where I was disappointed was the drinks menu. Surprisingly, there wasn't a single Italian beer on the menu—very unusual in a country with such a long brewing tradition (Peroni, Moretti, Ichnusa, Poretti, to name a few). Likewise, when I asked for local wine by the quart or half-liter in a carafe—very common in Italian restaurants of this type—there was nothing available. I ended up ordering a glass of Chardonnay, which was fine, but it was from France and the exact opposite of what I was looking for. In short: excellent menu, very good food, solid service—but the drinks menu definitely needs improvement. Adding local Italian wines by the glass and a few Italian beers would make a huge difference and truly complete the experience.

The welcome crostini were excellent. We had the cod, which was truly fantastic, both in a stew and with chickpea puree.

I have visited Cassino a number of times and I have eaten at Pepe Nero several times. The staff has been cordial and attentive, the setting relaxed, and the food preparation has been outstanding each time. They get very creative in the kitchen. My compliments.

Amazing! Shrimp cooked perfectly on the salad, perfect sized portions for starters and pasta. Flavors was spectacular. If course wine was a great match. Jazz playing kept it all together. Loved it!

Always the best. Pino is always available for any request. In the kitchen they are fantastic as in the dining room. I often come back here and I am never disappointed.

22/11/2025: Food was mediocre and not worth what I paid. I had the gnocchi with zucchini and shrimp which didn't have much flavour and the zucchini was very overcooked. I also had the steamed bacala. Tons of oregano over it which overpowered the dish. I would not recommend the food. The pizzas looked good - so just stick to those perhaps.
03/11/2025: We spent a weekend in Cassino with two couples. Locals recommended this place, and we went there on a Sunday for lunch. The location is perfect for families with children like ours, as it overlooks a large public park full of playground equipment. The restaurant is a chalet-like space, clean and well-maintained, perfectly in keeping with its location. The staff was very courteous and helpful right from the start, accommodating our needs. We ordered first courses and side dishes, and were completely satisfied. The portions were generous, the prices were excellent, and the quality was surprising. I particularly enjoyed the carbonara and cacio e pepe, seemingly simple dishes that are actually quite difficult to make. Congratulations and thanks to Vecchia Pesa! We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.

Bar Esedra

03/12/2025: I've been to Caffè Esedra in Sora more than once, mostly for breakfast or a break during a stroll along Corso Volsci. Every time I go, I find that pleasant, uncluttered feeling of normality, which is sometimes exactly what I'm looking for. The coffee is good, the cappuccino is often really well-made, and the croissants are fresh and tasty. The staff, at least in my experience, has always been kind and welcoming: they greet you naturally, without being overbearing, and this makes the place feel calm and familiar. The location is one of its strong points: being right on the Corso, it's perfect for stopping for a moment, resting, or people-watching. I've also had a few aperitivos there and found it simple but pleasant. To be honest, the atmosphere isn't always the liveliest: sometimes upon entering, I've felt the atmosphere is a bit dull, as some online reviews also point out. There are also small maintenance details that could use some attention, especially in the outdoor areas. Overall, however, Caffè Esedra remains an honest place for me, where I know what to expect: good coffee, friendly service, and a hassle-free break in the city center. A simple, genuine café that gets the job done without trying to impress.
