I ate sbrisolona last year and when I found out it was from Mantua I didn't hesitate to look for a good place to buy it, I have to say that they make it very good here, well priced and everyone is very friendly. Grazie!!!

Wanting to take home some traditional sweets, perhaps even as gifts, we asked a local for advice, who directed us to this historic pastry shop, whose aromas waft through Via San Longino, right in the historic center. The sbrisolona, ​​which we knew well, was very good. As for the Helvezia, since I'm not familiar with it, I have no basis for comparison, so I can't comment (it's too sweet for my taste anyway). The place is quaint, and the staff were very courteous and helpful. I'm not giving it top marks just because I didn't try anything else, but what was on display in the windows was certainly very inviting.

Among our favorites are the potato cake with a generous zabaglione filling, the brick, the Greek cake, and the fantastic Elvezia. The Anello di Monaco is also excellent. The accompanying label recommends warming the cake slightly for best enjoyment, a recommendation we have adopted. Mr. Gianni and his staff are not only highly knowledgeable and kind, but are always available to explain the methods and ingredients of their fantastic desserts. A true artisanal pastry shop.
