Good pizza but prices too, too high.

Superb experience at Mater, a restaurant just outside Rome that offers a gourmet take on contemporary Neapolitan pizza. The dough is sublime, light, airy...a true cloud. Generous toppings and very unique combinations, but all perfectly executed. The vegetarian/vegan options are also perfect, usually more "sad" than their omnivorous counterparts, but not at this place. The only small disappointment is the desserts, which are few and very classic (except for the Afrika cake, which we chose). I would have liked something more ingenious, in keeping with the style adopted in creating the pizzas.

We went to dinner at Mater yesterday, piqued by some posts we saw on social media. The place is very cute, with soft lighting and little noise. The choice of tables is noteworthy: large and comfortable, even for just two people, and spaced far apart. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, deeply involved in their work and in the project of the restaurant and the chef, with in-depth explanations about the choice of ingredients and the preparation of the dough. Fried foods are excellent, crispy and flavorful (the gricia timbale and carbonara are superb). As for the pizza, we were very impressed by the effect it creates in the mouth: a honeycomb-like dough, crumbly to the bite, but as soon as it touches the tongue, it melts in your mouth! Something I've never tried before (at least not for me). The idea of ​​the half-portions of pizza and the tasting menu is very interesting, allowing you to try a wide range of different flavors, all excellent. The Romanesca pizza with artichokes was, in my opinion, the biggest surprise of the evening. The dough is light and digestible. No heartburn the next morning. Don't expect Roman or Neapolitan pizza... this is a different product than what's currently available on the market! The desserts are good, but nothing special compared to other places (panna cotta and tiramisu in our case). The beer selection is a bit limited; I would have expected something "different" from a place like this, but the products are still good quality. The price is appropriate for the selection and the "gourmet" pizza. Some may say pizza prices are high, but in my opinion, it's a price I'd gladly spend again for a quality product with this flavor. Everyone is good at mixing ingredients, but few have the experience, study, and passion to serve such a high-quality product. Full marks, we'll definitely be back!

This is our third time back, and I recommend it to everyone. Excellent pizza, fantastic meatballs. The service is attentive and meticulous, always friendly and helpful. We're from southern Rome, so it's definitely worth a visit; it's easy to get to.

The pizza has a phenomenal dough that I've absolutely not found anywhere else. As someone who's used sourdough starter at home, I recognize that the dough is 100% sourdough starter, with no added yeast, and it's incredibly easy to work with. Its lightness and digestibility are unparalleled. The ingredients on top are also delicious. Their sourdough panettone is also fantastic: I got the Velluto and couldn't resist buying the whole panettone to take home :-) I'll add that I had the pleasure of speaking with Amalia: she's a true delight, with a deep love for both the products she makes and the people she serves. A big hug, dearest Amalia :-)

What can I say? It was recommended to me a few months ago, but we'd never gotten around to it, but after this first visit, I think we'll be back; it's worth it. The supplì are among the best; the cacio e pepe one tastes like cacio e pepe, for example, thanks in part to the excellent pepper. In short, the excellent ingredients are evident in that too. The saffron one is spectacular. The formula allows you to try multiple pizzas, and thank goodness for that, because once you've started, you'll want to eat them all, from the one that most resembles a regular Margherita to the ones you'd never expect.

For me, they're the absolute best, unbeatable! Eating pizza is a sensory experience. We always order an appetizer and dessert, and we're super happy during the Christmas season because the panettone is something unique (we also always buy at least one each, pre-ordering!!). It's a shame it's a bit far from home, otherwise we'd come much more often!! They've become very loyal customers, and my compliments to Amalia are always fantastic. See you next time!

Gourmet pizzeria with excellent options. There were four of us, and we sampled several different pizzas (which I highly recommend), sharing them among ourselves. The ingredients used are excellent, and the service is truly appreciable. The beer selection is decent.

Upon entry, we were greeted with a smile and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home. The menu offered a selection of unique pizzas, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, some of which are true culinary works of art. We opted for pizzas with gourmet ingredients, which expertly blended traditional and innovative flavors. Every bite was a sensory experience: the crust was perfectly leavened and crispy, while the toppings were balanced and flavorful. We also enjoyed the variety of artisanal appetizers and desserts, which beautifully complemented our meal. The real icing on the cake, however, was the hospitality of the family who runs the pizzeria. They made our dinner even more special with their impeccable service, always attentive to our every request and creating a festive atmosphere.
