I had a great experience first time, but when I returned three more times it got worse, and overall it's just mid.
Last time I had a smoothie and a pasta dish, and it felt like a waste of money. The smoothies are super low effort and unattractive; it's just a regular small glass filled with the liquid. Maybe it would worth 2 euros top. I regret not taking a picture of their ugly smoothie in a glass, would have been great to upload here to shame them, haha. And the pasta meal was more oily and salty than anything else, plus the portion was small for the price, and also just generally for a meal for an adult person. When I got back to my accommodation I ate a whole grain cracker with a glass of soy milk, and it felt better than the meal I got at the restaurant.
Based on my limited experience this place is 'okay' for a coffee and a slice of cake or a bagel sandwich, but probably go somewhere else for a good meal?
I wouldn't recommend it for anything more especially for vegans, as they have a few vegan options, but usually they just leave stuff out (like with the pasta dish) and you find yourself starving for e.g. protein. Also, the first time I got a very nice cappuccino with soy milk but when I asked the second time they didn't have plant milk.
You should also know that their kitchen is closed from like 14 to 19, so you can't order meals, only cake and coffee. And there is 1.5 eur service fee, even if you only order coffee.
One waiter, a young girl, was kind and attentive, but I got the subjective impression that the rest wish you went somewhere else with your English or with your questions. And last time the same waiter returned to me to ask if I'm "ready to order", again in Italian like we never talked before, when I already ordered half an hour ago (when the kitchen wasn't open yet but I decided to wait) - I think this shows really well how much you matter here for the staff.

I ordered one vegan sandwich (grilled vegetables, hummus, lettuce), two portions of vegan pluncake: one chocolate and one coconut. A vegan chocolate croissant, and one fruit juice.
The 3 stars are: 1 ⭐ - for friendly/kind service; 2 ⭐ - according to what they say, for offering vegan options, unlike many other restaurants in RC; 3 ⭐ - the food tastes good; 4 ⭐ - the "vegan" options are indicated with a "label" 👍🏻; why not 5? ⭐ Rather than automatically offering white bread, they could offer a healthier bread option (whole wheat, whole grain, or similar) + The plum cake was too sweet. Desserts are sweet, but sugar is carcinogenic, so the less you add, the better. Generally, offering more healthy options is good practice and keeps customers coming back longer! 🙂 (it doesn't kill them so quickly)

The delicious food and the high praise for the chef and the entire staff are undoubtedly a huge plus for this restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly, although I was a bit skeptical at first.

Excellent, high-quality food, with a consistently interesting menu featuring daily specials. It's a perfect place for any occasion: from lunch to dinner, from aperitifs to desserts to give as gifts or to enjoy at home.
Special thanks to the waitress Angelica, always cheerful, helpful, and professional. Despite our somewhat annoying requests, she handled us with kindness and patience. A true asset to the restaurant. Highly recommended.

A beautiful location, a delightful place to spend half an hour. There's a charming attention to detail, even in the dishes used for the courses.
The last time I visited the bar, I chose a chocolate cake. I found it a bit small in portion, considering the price, which comes to €5, including a €1.50 cover charge. For the slice in question, the price is exorbitant. It was good but nothing spectacular. I also tried my companion's courses, a red velvet cake and a tart, but I didn't find those to be great either.
All in all, a different way to spend an afternoon with friends in a beautiful place.

Seconda volta a Reggio, prima volta al MALAVENDA…ritornerò. Ottimo antipasto, ottima calamarata, ottimo pesce spada grigliato, ottimo dolce. Servizio e staff impeccabile, efficace ed efficiente. Meravigliosa Angelica, professionale e gentile.

Sono stato per tre sere consegutive in questo piccolo angolo di relax vicino al lungomare di Reggio. Angelica, aiutata da tutto lo staff, ha reso ogni cena unica. Un tour gastronomico tra i loro piatti forti e tipici: ‘nduja calda con crostini, la struncatura, tagliere di salmone affumicato da loro con burro salato agli agrumi e il super polpo arrostito con i friggitelli. Per ogni piatto Angelica mi ha sapientemente consigliato l’abbinamento alcolico corretto, consigliatissimo il pecorello.
Andate e chiedete di Angelica!!
