Locanda La Voltarella In Valentano

A very typical inn located in the center of Valentano. They offer several set menus at truly excellent prices. We ordered the €18 menu, which included an appetizer and a first course. We had melted pecorino cheese, which was truly delicious, and pennette alla carbonara, which was good—just a little overcooked, but the bacon was excellent. Then we ordered the €24 menu, which included an appetizer, first course, second course, and side dish. I ordered a house appetizer, which included a potato frittata, which was good, except it was cold. Also, some very good olives, some delicious eggplant, a platter of cured meats (mortadella, loin, salami, and prosciutto) that were average, along with a bruschetta of cherry tomatoes and, finally, some really good nervetti. For the first course, I had the Bighe all'aglione, which was good, and for the second course, a truly delicious lamb bujone, with a strong flavor that you should appreciate. As a side dish, I ordered sautéed chicory, but I didn't like it very much because it was quite bitter. We also added a panna cotta with berries (€4) to the menu, which was very good. The final bill was €46 (one menu for €24, one menu for €18, and a dessert for €4), which is truly excellent considering the portions. Final rating: 8.5/10

Everything was fine, except for the ordering process. The gentleman seemed very impatient with us, as it was our first time there. The same thing happened when paying, when I couldn't immediately think of a dish to name for the final bill. Too bad. The food was very tasty and delicious.

Authentic food and carefully selected ingredients, combined with the kindness, friendliness, and helpfulness of the staff, make us want to return to "La Voltarella" soon. We ate outside in the alley, in a perfectly cool atmosphere. Generous portions, a very enjoyable house red wine, and an absolutely fair price. We'll be back soon! Angelo

Classic no-frills inn, focuses on the concreteness of the food, quality and price are more than good, portions are very "calibrated" especially in the second courses, however, they are average, very small place but all in all welcoming

If you're looking for a rustic trattoria with good food at a great price, where substance is more important than appearance, you're in the right place. The menu offers a variety of options to suit all budgets. We enjoyed what we ate. The staff was friendly and attentive. Recommended.

Now we're talking! Delicious grilled steaks, sautéed chicory worthy of a second helping. For anyone passing through or near Valentano (Lake Bolsena), it would be a real shame not to stop by. 🔝
