After spending the day driving around and exploring the beautiful towns along Lake Maggiore, we grabbed dinner in Stresa and wanted a nightcap. Our friends had recommended El Gato Negro after visiting Stresa last year. Since it was our last night in town before heading back to the states, we figured this was the perfect way to end our trip. We are cat lovers and have two at home so it was not hard to convince us to stop here! I ordered one of their cocktails and my husband had his first and only Guinness of our whole 10 day trip. Both were delicious and perfectly enjoyed on the back patio. Between the music and service, the vibes were great. I hope to be able to visit again at some point in the future, and wish we spent more time there!

Quaint bar in Stresa. We had hamburgers there. The ambiance, service, and food were very pleasant and delicious.

We were sited in the back garden, a dark area next to a table with small light. We got the hamburgers quite fast and they looked great- but what a disappointment when we tasted them: well done, dry, and their shape was too perfect - industrially made, like supermarket product. Sorry - not recommended.

"El GatoNegro Cafè" is a small pub located in the historic center of Stresa. It features wooden furnishings and a youthful, welcoming atmosphere, along with friendly, smiling staff. It's perfect for an evening with friends. The cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced, with something for everyone. They know exactly what to make... the results are truly masterpieces. ...it looks like one of the many pubs/bars...but once inside you will find a nice, well-kept place and very kind staff...but the strong point is the food...a carefully made and very tasty hamburger...Guinness which has a taste very close to the pure one produced in Ireland...I would say very good for everything
