My wife and I stopped by on the highway heading back to Calabria. Despite it being 10 PM, they answered our call. We sat down at the pizzeria (just steps from the highway exit) and tried two croquettes (a classic one and a pistachio and mortadella one). The pizza was truly delicious: both the dough (modern) and the quality of the ingredients. We ordered a Margherita and a "Trip to Tropea" (really, really good). The place is run by a friendly and easy-going couple. Definitely worth trying again.

Two days before our first order, we stopped here for a cappuccino. The table next to us was occupied by cheerful Italians, some of whom were also staying at our accommodation. They were serving spaghetti on overflowing plates with appetizing-looking seafood. Today we wanted the same. The prices at this beachside restaurant are quite high, but if the price-performance ratio is right, we're happy to pay. So we ordered the same dishes. The pasta was perfectly al dente and tasted excellent, as did the side dishes. However, the portion size was nowhere near what we had seen on the other plates. There were no size differences listed on the menu. I would have refused a "senior's plate." So we left the restaurant hungry and very disappointed. Presumably, as is so often the case in Italian restaurants, they differentiate between tourists and locals. Here it's very obvious. In Tropea town, a €25 plate of spaghetti with seafood is considered a large portion. We felt ripped off for the reasons mentioned above.

Excellent pizza with quality ingredients

Excellent pizzas, a refreshing change from what you'd find in Germany, and incredibly cheap. These prices were unheard of back home 10 years ago. The service is also second to none – extremely attentive. The quality is top-notch, absolutely delicious. The interior is inviting and unobtrusive. We probably won't be coming back to this place, which is a shame.
