I'm only giving it 4 stars because the pool water was cold, but otherwise everything else was great.
The staff, the rooms (be careful, the water is not drinkable; you should consider buying bottled water), and a buffet with a huge selection.

Firstly let me set this in context by stating we have travelled extensively in Italy from top to bottom and across Sicily but this was our first visit to Sardinia.
The hotel is a long way from Olbia airport around one and a half hours. The public transport to Castelsardo was practically non existent and taxis are exceptionally expensive and worked out €800 for a return trip. We decided to hire a car and it was the only real option. If driving abroad isn’t for you then this hotel or resort isn’t for you.
We arrived later than expected because of flight delays and when we got to the hotel we were told that there was a fault and our room wouldn’t be available until the following day. We were moved to another hotel in Castelsardo which was a nice place.
Castelsardo Resort Village is truly in a beautiful location and all the rooms are located around a central hub. The rooms are spacious and clean. Some with a balcony and others with a terrace. We always had clean towels and the room was cleaned everyday. The aircon was good and kept the room cool or warm. Despite requesting extra pillows for the bed on three occasions we never received them and in the end gave up asking. The resort has no lifts and there are lots of steps. I mean really there are lots and lots of steps to get anywhere. From your room to the pool. The pool to the bar. The restaurant is located up so many steps it is unreal. Not a problem for us but if you have any mobility issues then you really would struggle with this resort. The pool was very deep with a small shallowed area and easy steps to get in and out.
You really do need a car if staying at this hotel. The parking isn’t easy and the hotel car park costs €12 a night or €70 for the week. You can take your chances on parking on the public road but nothing is guaranteed. You can be close somedays or practically back up on the main road. Also walking that public road at night is pitch black and there is no lighting.
Pool towels are not included as you'd expect with a four star hotel and a deposit and daily charge of €2 per towel.
WiFi is not free and even when you purchase it your device constantly drops off the network and you’re required to enter the code to reconnect.
Italy doesn’t seem to do all inclusive like other countries and that isn’t always a bad thing. The food at the hotel was always Italian food which isn’t a bad thing. Breakfast was always pastries, bread cold meats and English breakfasts. It was never bad quality. Lunch was always some kind of grilled meat and salads and evening meal was always one type of hot meat. There was always lots of pasta options that catered for all tastes. However the food was very regimented to certain times and if you missed these times there was nothing to eat in between. I have stayed at hotels before where I have seen tremendous waste with food and what I liked here is they serve you some of the food so that you don’t overload your plate. You can have as much as you want and visit as many times as you want but I like this method. Also always plenty of seafood on the menu which you’d expect for its location. Desserts were limited but there was always ice cream and one other dessert but only in the evening.
You really can’t walk from this hotel into Castelsardo as there is no coastal path and you would take your life in your hands along the main road. There are no pavements until you get right into the town. We asked for a taxi one night and were told if was difficult to get a taxi and if you can get an uber were were told that they will take your money and then not turn up. There is a hotel shuttle bus to the town centre at a cost of €15 per person return trip. However that service finishes at just after 8pm. There was a Tuktuk service from the town.
The all inclusive drinks package is the biggest disappointment at this hotel. So many drinks are not included in the all inclusive. The beer and wine included are OK but not much else is included. Very poor.

Very nice hotel with a magnificent view.
The welcome was decent. The food and drinks were excellent, and the staff were very friendly.
The pool is magnificent, the only downside being the freezing water, which is a shame.
The sea was quite dirty (plastic, trash, etc.).
The biggest negative we experienced was the broken lock on our room!!
Upon arrival, we noticed that the door wouldn't close.
We contacted reception to report the problem, and they told us, "Someone is supposed to be here within 20 minutes" (reception was aware of the problem, so why give us this room without first repairing it??!!!!).
Two hours later, that person still wasn't there!! "He has a super important job to do first!"
What's more important than safety????
Thank you, for us, who had to stay in the room all afternoon waiting for him (a total lack of respect, without actually letting us know when the repair would take place, "we don't know when the person will come!!!").
Finally, someone came, but he didn't know how to fix the lock. "We have to wait for the part, which will come tomorrow!" He offered to keep the door closed with the dryer in it!!! So we had to sleep one night with the door open!!!! Outrageous! We should have had another room!!! This is simply unacceptable for a 4-star hotel, and no action was taken!!!!
He was supposed to come the next day at 10 a.m. with the part.... at 2 p.m., he still wasn't there!!!!! In total, we called reception at least six times before it was "repaired." He simply moved a part from the top to the bottom. However, the door was still difficult to lock!!!
Another negative point: the Maddelena activity (offered by the hotel) had been canceled due to "bad weather conditions, no boats would sail." So, we decided to go on our own, and surprise, all the boats in the harbor were offering the activity!!!!!
We'll nevertheless take the positive side, because the rest of our stay was great!
