If you enjoy the wild, lively chaos of a Neapolitan morning, Café Tonya is an interesting place to start your day. Located in a small side street, it offers a front-row seat to the local hustle – a vegetable vendor here, a honking scooter there. There are a few small tables outside, making it a nice spot for 1–2 people. Larger groups are possible by pushing tables together, though space is limited. The service is friendly – definitely a plus. Unfortunately, I can’t agree with other reviewers when it comes to the coffee (espresso), but keep in mind I am a foreigner and used to medium to dark roast espresso. My espresso was extremely bitter – so much so that it overpowered nearly all other flavor notes. While this kind of extraction might work well in a cappuccino, it was simply too harsh as a standalone espresso - but maybe just for me. The pistachio croissant was disappointing. Its texture and flavor were reminiscent of an industrially produced pastry, with a typical little sour aftertaste that’s common in shelf-stable croissants - warmed up in a microwave. The pistachio filling tasted mostly like generic milk cream with only a trace of pistachio flavor – it was nearly yellow rather than green. Overall, the café offers a nice setting and kind service, coffee is probably a matter of your personal taste but the pastry fell short. Price: 1,50€ for espresso and 1,80€ for Croissant al „Pistacchio“
