Great view and beautiful church

Beautiful place, suggestive and full of history. Highly recommended

An evocative and certainly interesting place.

It is beautiful to see where the south-eastern Italian land ends and the sea begins. Leaning out from the stands on the sea side you can admire the "heel" of Italy and the imaginary line of the conjunction between the Adriatic and Ionian seas, while from the side towards the town you can admire the port and the steps that lead to the square. Recommended because it is suggestive.

Together with the lighthouse, an iconic place that represents the km 0 of the ancient Via Francigena which, winding for 3000 km, arrives in England. A mythical place that sees the meeting of two seas: the Adriatic and the Ionian.

At the point where the Adriatic and Ionian seas meet, stands the church of Santa Maria di Leuca (LE). The basilica, also known as Santa Maria de finibus terrae, overlooks the promontory, in a position with great scenic impact, which is completed by the large lighthouse about fifty meters high. If the original church dates back to the first centuries of Christianity, the current place of worship is eighteenth-century, with a Latin cross structure and baroque decorations.

Beautiful place to appreciate the sunset.

You can't visit Salento without stopping at this place. Out of habit or affection I still call it a sanctuary but it has been elevated to a minor basilica. From the square in front, in addition to the lighthouse, you can admire one of the most beautiful views, in my opinion, of Puglia.

I discovered this place by chance. I didn't know there was a cathedral there. It has a beautiful view. A very pleasant walk along the seafront.

The view is beautiful, where you can admire the meeting between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea in the place where the eastern side of Italy ends.
