03/05/2026: My husband and I were looking for a place to eat in the Karst region and found this delightful and refined inn. The restaurant has been run by the same family for six generations; it's a magical place that exudes history and goodness. The innkeepers, especially the young woman in the dining room, are incredibly friendly, and we chatted extensively about the history of this border town. We ordered cod meatballs with asparagus and mayonnaise, a platter of traditional cured meats, crepe tagliatelle with onion puree and fried spring onion, cod stew, roast pork with pepper cream and potatoes in tecia: everything was excellent, some very unusual but delicious! We finished with a traditional dessert whose name I can't remember, also very good. The young woman in the dining room recommended a wine based on what we'd ordered; we chose a classic Friulano and a Scioppettino, both truly perfect! The bill was reasonable for what we ate and drank. Highly recommend!!!

03/05/2026: We stayed at the hotel as a tour group for three nights and ate dinner in the restaurant three times. Our room was in perfect condition and extremely clean! The decor is rustic, but very high-quality – antique, solid wood furniture. The bed was excellent. Our room was a bit dark, but that meant it was cool in the summer. There are no balconies or terraces, but there is a garden with tables and benches that invite you to enjoy a glass of wine. The restaurant didn't feel like an ordinary restaurant to us. It's more like visiting friends and being treated like royalty. The hospitality, the warmth, and the love for wine and excellent local produce are truly evident here! The dishes were absolutely superb! We tried the tasting menu with wine pairings, as well as individual dishes. The Slow Food and Michelin recommendations are well-deserved. The dishes with their strong flavors are perfectly complemented by the intensely flavorful wines! Those who prefer German or French white or rosé wines might be initially surprised, as the Friulian wines offered are very characterful. However, when paired with the food, they are excellent! I ate by far the best braised lamb shoulder of my life here. Perhaps simple, but simply incredibly good! Thank you for spending time with you!

01/05/2026: I had the pleasure of dining at Casa Sgarra, and I have to say it was nothing short of sensational. The setting is extremely refined and elegant, but the surprising thing is that it never makes you feel wrong or out of place. The welcome is warm and they pamper you from start to finish, starting with the delicious welcome amuse-bouche. You can taste the passion and precision with which the dishes are prepared in every flavor. You taste each dish and it's natural to say, "Wow, what a blast!" For example: I'm not particularly fond of fish, yet the calamari as an appetizer was spectacular. The suckling pig was also wonderful, cooked and treated to perfection. My partner chose amberjack (for his main course) and was more than thrilled! The value for money is exceptional, especially considering the high quality of the cuisine. It's an experience I highly recommend and a place I would definitely return to with great pleasure.

09/04/2026: We returned to this magnificent restaurant for the second time, and once again, the experience was simply splendid. We chose the seafood tasting menu, consisting of four courses paired with glasses selected by the chef: a true culinary journey, thoughtful and harmonious, capable of surprising from start to finish. Among the dishes, the raw seafood appetizer was unforgettable: tuna and salmon carpaccio, oysters, shrimp, scampi, and caviar... a generous selection, enhanced by an excellent champagne, truly thrilling. The vanilla ice cream with salt, pepper, and oil was also surprising, paired with an exquisite passito wine: an original and perfectly executed combination. Special praise goes to the chef, also a sommelier, who paired each course with great skill and sensitivity: a fragrant and fruity New Zealand white wine was memorable. The service was impeccable: the staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and of rare kindness. We felt truly pampered throughout the evening. A restaurant we recommend without hesitation for special occasions, where quality, elegance, and hospitality meet in an excellent way.

11/04/2026: A truly positive experience! The service was incredibly fast and friendly, and throughout the evening I was impressed by the professionalism of the wait staff, not only through their interactions with our own tables but also with those at other tables. The dishes offered were all better than the last: starting with the appetizers, my partner and I had fried "fake calamari" (mushroom-based, but practically indistinguishable from the taste of real calamari, thanks to a delicious, crunchy, and light breading) and a cashew burratina. We then moved on to an amazing vegan carbonara and a vegan lamb en croute (delicious, super flavorful, and with the perfect texture). We finished with some amazing vegan cheeses: blue cheese, brie, and ricotta, our three favorites! I should also add that I approached this dinner with active and lively gastritis, and for the first time in weeks, I was able to eat my fill without experiencing the classic symptoms of digestive difficulty. The excellent quality of the ingredients is evident, and the chef uses them to the fullest, enhancing them and creating light yet incredibly flavorful dishes. Finally, the bill was absolutely reasonable for the more than satisfactory quality and quantity. As I told the chef at the end of the evening, they'll see us again!

16/04/2026: What a lovely surprise! I was taking a colleague from Turin on a tour of Sardinia and wanted him to try some traditional Sardinian dishes. I was looking for a trattoria, but somehow Trattoria ZIMA' found us instead: a kind of unconscious attraction. Kindness, friendliness, and truly special dishes that truly surprised us. Top marks with honors!!

03/03/2026: A simple restaurant, with workers on their lunch break at the other tables, and the menu written on two chalkboards hanging on the wall. The lady who seats us is very kind and attentive. We order a portion of tagliatelle, cardoncello mushroom, guanciale, and pecorino cheese, and a portion of bavette with mullet ragù and bottarga. The wait is short, and the portions are generous. The dishes are very well-seasoned and flavorful. The bill is moderately low. Worth considering when in the area.

Andrea and Barbara have the gift of understanding how precious the trust their guests place in choosing their restaurant is, and they truly understand the value of time! The time people choose to spend in their restaurant is the time needed to grow authentic products and prepare them with the necessary care. The restaurant is small (about 12 seats), with meticulous attention to detail. The menu is fixed and the same for all guests, and dinner is at 8:00 PM. Barbara prepares delicious vegetarian recipes using local products grown directly near the restaurant, while Andrea welcomes his guests with great warmth and kindness, introducing the restaurant, their daily activities, and each course with meticulous care, conveying all their love for growing products and their artisanal preparation according to ancient traditions. A wonderful experience. Thank you for what you do 😊!

23/02/2026: A restaurant I knew about but hadn't tried yet. Recommended by a dear friend, it was love at first sight. The owner is legendary. The informal atmosphere is relaxing, the food is excellent, and they pay special attention to various intolerances. It was me and a friend of mine; he has gluten and lactose intolerance, and I'm vegan. The menu, rich in dishes, features a variety of unique tastes and flavors. The wines are excellent! The entree amazed me, and from there, an explosion of flavors and colors. Onigiri, soups, gyoza, rice burgers, and delicious desserts. AMBIENCE ***** stars FOOD ***** stars STAFF ******** stars PRICE ******** stars What can I say? It's unique, and now I'll definitely have to come back to try everything else!!! Highly recommended for those with intolerances. Rich menus that take you on a journey around the world, with a national twist. MUST TRY!!!! And come back!
