Piazza Duomo in Alba isn’t just my favorite restaurant in Italy—it may very well be my favorite in the world. After several visits, I can confidently say this is the epitome of fine dining done right: deeply refined, yet never cold; innovative, yet rooted in nature and simplicity.
The service is, in a word, flawless. Attentive without ever being intrusive, friendly yet professional, humble yet supremely knowledgeable. It’s rare—even at this level—to find a front-of-house team that creates such a consistently warm, welcoming experience. Every detail is polished, but nothing feels forced. It’s service at its most human and elegant.
The sommelier stands out as one of the best I’ve encountered in Italy: non-pretentious, insightful, and genuinely helpful in guiding the wine pairing journey without overwhelming it. A rare balance that elevates the whole experience.
The food is exceptional. There’s a clear focus on vegetables grown in the restaurant’s own garden, and the result is a celebration of flavor and purity. The chef’s talent lies not in theatrical tricks, but in coaxing out the very soul of each ingredient. It’s magical and honest—a thoughtful departure from the over-processed, over-complicated techniques seen in many other three-star establishments.
We appreciated the health-forward approach of the vegetable-centric tasting menu, though if I had one small suggestion, it would be to include just a touch more indulgence—perhaps a dish with foie gras or lobster—to fully round out the luxury aspect.
The interior is another standout: playful but elegant, bright but never garish. Every corner feels considered, and the overall effect is both uplifting and deeply comfortable—something few high-end restaurants manage to achieve.
To top it all off, Chef Enrico Crippa, as always, remains humble and kind. He graciously took a quick photo and signed our menu—gestures that speak to the spirit of hospitality that defines this place.
Piazza Duomo remains a benchmark for what fine dining should be: soulful, smart, and deeply satisfying. I will always look forward to returning.

Naturally, the meal is a journey through blends of flavors and aromas, it is worth as an experience guided by those who wanted, sought and proposed it. All seasoned with attention to detail, cordiality and the desire to explain and communicate. It is worth trying. It will not be the restaurant for everyone, but for those who want something different, this is the right place, at least in the area.

22/04/2025: Chocolate is a journey through time, every bite takes you back to when you were a boy, but finding such sublime quality assembled with the skill of a master pastry chef is a rarity. My travels through time with the Fagiolo Piero pastry shop and chocolate shop are quite frequent and are an alternation between chocolate and wonderful cakes. The owners know how to satisfy all tastes with extreme professionalism, even those of the most demanding palates. Highly recommended pastry shop.

12/06/2025: Kindness courtesy a small restaurant well cared for and typical. Excellent dishes of Piedmontese cuisine well presented and tasty. Excellent raw materials. In every dish you can taste the love for their land and the refined search for raw materials. Each course was an emotion of the palate. Thanks to the girls who advised us very well and you can see the passion in their eyes. Thanks for this culinary journey.
01/06/2025: The place is in a pedestrian street with seating inside, in the garden and in the pedestrian alley. The furniture (especially the bathroom) and various boxes (like the bread box) are made with recycled material from wooden wine crates. The menu offers typical dishes but revisited. If you let yourself be carried away, the meal can become an experience of flavors. In addition to what you order, you are pampered by at least 4 (in our case) travel-size welcome and farewell tastings: a first appetizer consisting of mini bagnacauda, garden vegetables and cooked greens with their own black bread to accompany it; a second pre-meal consisting of a block of nice thick butter with its accompanying bread; a pre-coffee / pre-dessert to cleanse the mouth consisting of a scoop of sorbet; various sweets to accompany the coffee. Each course has its own plate or tray, to be reconciled (it seems) with shape, consistency and color. A special note to the plin dish: tiny, filled with game, grilled and served in a wafer that melts in your mouth.

04/06/2025: Fantástica cena en Langotto. Elisa dirige el frente de la casa y Otto dirige la cocina. Comimos platos tan buenos el domingo que regresamos para la segunda ronda el viernes. Los panes dulces de ternera y el plato de champiñones morcilla fue una de las mejores cosas que he comido. Y he estado en muchos restaurantes de clase mundial. No es un restaurante grande, así que reserve su reserva. Novello se encuentra a poca distancia en coche de las ciudades de Barolo y La Morra.

29/06/2025: We had a wonderful stay at Le Marmotte. We particularly enjoyed the sun terrace, the friendly staff, including the owner, and the delicious food. The location was ideal for hikes in all directions; however, you still need to use your car or bike every day to get to the starting points. We felt incredibly comfortable and would love to come back, thank you very much!

11/06/2025: Exceptional service and food. Choosing what to order was a struggle, but eventually, we got there. From the gnocchi to the filetto con verdure, everything was spot-on, and you can't go wrong by picking anything on the menu. The zabaione is a must-have when you visit.

Here you don't eat and drink only EXCELLENT PRODUCTS, but we feed on a very rare and, in these times, almost extinct ingredient: KINDNESS, THE SINCERE AFFECTION of hospitality!
In your work - which I know is very demanding and tiring - you always have a smile and kind and sincere words. (With the people around, sometimes, it's not at all easy to stay jovial and kind...)

30/05/2025: Siamo stati accolti da Luciano, una persona simpaticissima, il cui calore e ospitalità rendono il benvenuto davvero speciale. La cucina è tipica e familiare: qui la qualità non si misura in termini di alta cucina, ma in una semplice eccellenza, fatta di genuinità e sapori autentici.
Che dire del resto? Lasciatevi consigliare da lui se volete trascorrere una serata all’insegna della convivialità, in un luogo dove l’atmosfera e la location esprimono perfettamente questo spirito.
I vini sono ottimi e gli antipasti… beh, non hanno fatto altro che prolungare il piacere di un’esperienza davvero godibile.
Consiglio prenotate in largo anticipo se non volete rimanere a bocca vuota.

Excellent cuisine, we ate very well and spent little, in an atmosphere of conviviality and lots of smiles. Highly recommended. We will be back very very willingly!!!!! Thank you for being there
