16/01/2026: As soon as you step inside the Osteria del Vecio Alpin in Casteggio, it's like stepping into a mountain postcard, filled with memorabilia, paintings, and objects that tell the story of the Alpine troops. The restaurant has just a few tables, creating an intimate and authentic atmosphere, reminiscent of a true osteria from days gone by.
Flavorful and authentic dishes, just like grandma's. The tagliolini with salami and Bonarda pasta, the polenta with gorgonzola, and the roast veal with boiled potatoes are all excellent.
The house dessert, which they call "il mattone," is delicious—a misleading name, as it's actually simple and well-balanced.
Friendliness and a family atmosphere complete the experience.
An osteria that doesn't aim to impress with special effects, but rather wins you over with heart, tradition, and flavor.
From me, it's a resounding yes.
Highly recommended!

14/12/2025: The food was excellent, worthy of a Michelin-starred chef. The beautifully decorated dining room created the perfect atmosphere. The service was excellent, with the staff attentively serving the ladies first, and special attention was paid to those with allergies and intolerances, not only by offering alternative dishes but also by marking the guest's location with a place card.

Excellent quality and flavorful appetizers.
The Carnaroli risotto was amazing, and the meat-based main course was exceptional. Damiano Dorati, for me, confirms one of the best restaurants in the Oltrepò Pavese area. Must try!

21/12/2025: We stumbled upon it by chance, due to a reservation error, and I was glad for that mistake, because otherwise I wouldn't have discovered this place.
The chef explains his dishes and prepares them with all his passion, using excellent ingredients.
You'll find unique and diverse dishes, and this probably makes it not for everyone, but for those who want to discover more.
Everything is done slowly; the chef tends to just a few tables, which makes for a calm, relaxed, and quiet atmosphere.
Having a Christmas dinner with friends, being able to chat calmly without hearing the stories coming from other tables, is a precious thing.
Go there, you won't regret it.

The cuisine is top-notch, with carefully crafted dishes, quality ingredients, and well-balanced flavors. Careful attention is evident both in the presentation and the selection of ingredients. The wine list is also excellent, perfectly in keeping with the setting.
A place that combines quality, atmosphere, and expertise. Highly recommended; I will gladly return.

22/02/2026: A highly refined, light, and easily digestible pizza. A rare find where you can pair your favorite pizza with a local sparkling wine from the Oltrepò area. We've been traveling 30 kilometers to eat their pizza for years.
07/01/2026: Pizza with a frozen base (I saw the pizza chef take a pizza from a pile of pre-made, pre-prepared, frozen bases). No comment. I don't understand how they made such a decision. I've been a customer for years and years, but I don't think I'll be returning. Not recommended.

Although the pizza remained of decent quality, something TERRIBLE happened with the service!!!
Throughout the evening, we were served by a waiter who treated us with indifference and disdain, using a snarky tone, responding inappropriately and at times with nastiness, and serving dishes that bordered on throwing them at a clay pigeon.
The table setting was borderline dirty. (I'm attaching a photo of a "clean" fork.)
Having recommended the pizzeria to my friends (quiet and helpful people!!) after years of coming every week for lunch breaks and business dinners, I feel MORTIFIED to have subjected my companions to such a negative experience!
The owner, presumably having heard our discontent, offered to offer us coffee, but the damage was already done.
Out of curiosity, I read the reviews and note that, unfortunately, my experience was not an isolated incident, but that other diners were treated rudely.
I'm so sorry,
I don't think I'll be able to recommend this pizzeria until the situation improves.
