Necessary premise: access is not allowed with dogs due to allergies of the owners and there is a steep 5 minute climb on foot.
Once you reach the restaurant you can enjoy an unparalleled view of the valley and the villages.
The food is homemade, excellent, the portions are generous and the quality of the ingredients is high.
The price is appropriate for what is served and furthermore the owners are polite, helpful, kind and you can see that they put their heart into what they do.
19/05/2024: without infamy and without praise.. It can only be accessed via a 5 minute uphill path. Reservation required, don't go without calling because they'll send you away!
The food was good but nothing special. The tagliatelle with game is recommended. Portions could be more generous, fast service and always present in the room. Prices now normal..

20/05/2024: Sorry, but the new management doesn't hold a candle to the old one. The kitchen is bland, I didn't understand what cheese they used for the pizzoccheri, but they tasted very little, the girls who take orders and serve at the tables are panicked, we had to ask for a jug of water 3 times. Maybe in a little while with experience things will improve, but for now we're not there, especially if you think about how the refuge with Diego worked until last November...
Response to manager's comment:
If, when you say that mine is the first negative comment you have received, you are referring to the reviews on Google, I point out that mine is only the third review on the refuge under your management. The above all refer to the previous management. Forgive me, but one negative review in three does not have the same weight as one negative review in a hundred. If you are referring to comments collected directly from customers in the dining room, I can assure you that on Saturday there were other people at our table who had the same doubts as us. The point is that not everyone comes to tell her certain things. In any case, I for one hope to change my mind in the future, because I intend to come to Valvarrone again, and I realize that it is too early to express a definitive opinion, given that you took over a few months ago.
13/05/2024: Small and very characteristic refuge located in the upper Varrone valley, beautiful panorama. Run by a local family, accurate and punctual service.
It's truly a pleasure to pass through here during an excursion. Excellent cuisine with excellent first and second courses and platters of cold cuts and cheeses.
The coffee is also very good.

04/11/2023: A must when climbing to Pizzo dei tre lords from the side of the Grassi refuge. When we arrived at the refuge at 2pm we asked if we could have lunch and the girl who runs the refuge kindly said that she would satisfy our needs. Excellently cooked pasta with meat sauce, then polenta with mixed cheeses both local and Piedmontese since she is originally from those places, draft beer, bread made by her and coffee. Fair price since the food is carried almost 2000 meters on your shoulders, which is no walk in the park. The refuge is welcoming and quiet with a view that extends from the southern side of Val Biandino to the northern side of Val Varrone and Melasc.
12/10/2023: Climbed from Introbio in just over three hours, a real stop.

06/05/2024: I ordered a pizza with 4 cheeses and porcini mushrooms and perhaps there was only mozzarella and porcini mushrooms, like a pizza ordered at the same table with arugula that didn't look like arugula

17/02/2024: Pizzeria principalmente da asporto ma con tavoli per consumare la pizza in loco.
La pizza niente di speciale, non vi aspettate una pizza napoletana, molto lontana.
Ambiente surreale, il cameriere ci ha chiesto se volevamo le posate 🙄.
Buono per un pasto veloce e senza pretese.

03/09/2023: I go to the Sala hotel/restaurant a couple of times a year when I'm in Introbio to visit my mother. It is located in the center of the town, in an excellent position, close to shops, newsagent, pharmacy, bus stop etc.. the restaurant is family-run, and when we have lunch there it feels like being at home. Impeccable service, very kind and attentive. The room is made up of a few tables, with a TV corner, well-spaced and well-set tables. The menu list includes various choices between first courses, second courses and desserts. And it's all very good, but without big demands, I would say easy-going. Simple but good dishes. And cheap. The two of us don't spend more than thirty euros on a first course (mum), a second course of meat (me), vegetables, two fruit salads, mineral water, coffee and cover charge. I've never tried the hotel, but hearsay it's good. The rooms are spotless, have a beautiful view of the Grigna, there are no balconies, there are tables on the pavement and there is also a nice internal garden.

controllo lo scontrino e vedo 4 polente anziché 3 come da me chiesto. lo faccio presente (avevo già pagato) e in malo modo la cassiera mi risponde se non mi andasse bene comunque... interdetto le rispondo di no e lei, cito, risponde "che cogl...." con relativo lancio del resto verso di me. e l'assurdità è che nella stessa fila ha avuto comportamenti simili con altre persone che aspettavano.
lavoro nella ristorazione e una cosa così davvero mai mi era capitata; per fortuna ci sono posti con ben altro servizio ai Piani.
20/01/2024: Presi polenta e cervo e polenta e stinco, davvero pessimi. Ci hanno fatto pagare, senza motivo, € 12 in più. Sono tornato per protestare e me ne hanno ridati 10. Il tutto senza scontrino, sia per noi che per gli altri avventori che ho notato attorno.

Santa Marta Dolci & Caffe

27/02/2024: Un cafè macchiato, una cioccolata calda, un cannoncino (mignon) e un cannoncino alla siciliana (mignon), costo 10,00 euro.
Il cafè era accettabile perché macchiato, altrimenti sarebbe stato imbevibile. La cioccolata calda, probabilmente una bustina pronta ciobar della cameo, le paste nella norma ma nulla di speciale.
Per essere un paesino di montagna i prezzi sono quelli di Manhattan o almeno quelli di Biffi in piazza Duomo a Milano.
Il servizio al tavolo è pagato a parte.
Se passate o andate a Introbio, non fermatevi alla pasticceria Santa Marta.
18/02/2024: Prodotti buoni, ma nulla di eccezionale......pagare euro 2,50 un quadratino di sacher e un servizio al tavolo di 30 centesimi per un caffè/ cappuccio lo trovo assurdo, se poi ci mettiamo che il caffè/ cappuccio ha comunque i prezzi in linea che fanno altri bar / pasticceria con servizio al tavolo.

Barista perfetta e come persona molto di piu!! Cordiale sincera simpaticissima e fantastico sorriso!! Lei per me è una delle migliori amici/persone che io abbia mai conosciuto nella vita ed è una vera persona speciale merita il meglio!! Veramente persona top!! Locale fantastico con persone fantastiche!!
