12/10/2025: First and foremost the food was wonderful. The lamp chops and the T-Bone steak were exquisite and the rest of the dishes were very good as well.
Dining in Lo Stuzzichino was a wonderful experience. This is a wonderful family restaurant. The staff is very attentive, friendly and welcoming. We loved the design and the feel of this restaurant. We dined there two out of the three nights we stayed in Massa Lubrense. We were a group of 10 and the restaurant arranged a shuttle to and from the restaurant which was very helpful, as the access from our hotel was tricky.
12/10/2025: We didn't have a good time, we ate cold first courses, tasteless meatballs... very social and little substance!!

Vicolo della Neve

27/10/2025: I was in Salerno for a short trip, and along with a married couple who live in this beautiful city, I had the pleasure of dining at Vicolo Della Neve. The restaurant retains intact parts of an older structure, with beautiful frescoes on the walls, including a painting by Clemente Tarufi (a talented Salerno painter from the first half of the 20th century), which, among other works, depicts the restaurant's little mascot, the legendary parrot "Petruccio." The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, while the cuisine is typical of Salerno, with traditional pizzas and (not overly) simple dishes that, however, stand out for the incredible quality of the ingredients and the chef's mastery of combining them. The staff, then, is an added bonus, capable of conveying a sense of joy and camaraderie. Pasta with tomato sauce and beans (an incredible first course), meatballs, and cinguetto (a calzone filled with egg, mozzarella, and salami) were just a few of our choices that evening, and—believe me—I couldn't tell you which was the best. I can only thank the lovely couple who made this unforgettable experience possible and assure you that I'll be back soon.
27/10/2025: Let's start with the premise that I returned after years—about twenty years—since Vicolo della Neve was run by the legendary Don Matteo Bonavita: the famous rested pasta e fagioli was a thing of the past! 😄
I returned last night, driven by a bit of nostalgia but also by curiosity to see how this historic restaurant in the center of Salerno has changed.
I must say: hats off to those who continue running it today. The quality of the food is truly excellent, with traditional Salerno dishes cooked with respect and attention. Of course, the pasta e fagioli is still good—but that was really something at Don Matteo 😉
The restaurant, located in the heart of the historic center, retains its charm with stone arches and an authentic atmosphere, but it has also been updated: today it's more refined, brighter, and the feel is that of a restaurant that looks forward without forgetting its roots.
A place absolutely worth a visit, both for those passing through Salerno and those staying there. It's one of those places where you can savor authentic Salerno cuisine—from peperone mbuttunato to eggplant parmigiana, to pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven.
If I really had to find a small flaw, I'd say it as an encouragement: the service. Perhaps a little more warmth, that family-style warmth that was Don Matteo's signature, would make the experience even more perfect.
In any case, it's nice to know that Vicolo della Neve continues its history with respect and passion. And when you return, you can still find a bit of that old-fashioned magic.
A final gem in Salerno dialect:
"At Don Matteo's, they don't make you a coffee..."
Unfortunately, the tradition is no longer maintained, and those who have been in Salerno for a long time would be able to explain to you that this was the true custom!

17/10/2025: We were on Sunday 12th October at my nephew's baptism party and I must say that my daughter couldn't have made a better choice.... a welcoming and refined atmosphere, excellent quality food served by efficient and always available waiters, washed down with excellent wine, a dessert buffet with a bar corner and a breathtaking view of Lake Averno.
06/10/2025: I celebrated my son Matteo's baptism on September 21st. We ate very well. We were in the smaller room with a private garden overlooking the lake. I received so many compliments. You were a pleasant discovery. My compliments also go to the "superlative" chef.

05/10/2025: I went for lunch today with my family for the first time. We had a great meal, and the staff was young and knowledgeable. We'll definitely be back. The restaurant has a large garden, but the interior rooms are small and lackluster. Unfortunately, there was no phone service in the room where we ate, and the Wi-Fi didn't work.

05/11/2025: We stayed at Hotel Villa Maria in Ravello for a week while attending a family wedding, and it was an excellent experience. The accommodations were top-notch. The rooms are beautifully designed and very well-maintained, making it a comfortable base for our trip. The service from all the staff, including the on-site restaurant (also called Villa Maria), was outstanding. They really made us feel welcome. The whole property has a quiet, elegant charm that made our stay unforgettable.
The hotel is situated in a lovely neighborhood, making it convenient to visit local attractions. It’s tucked away in a narrow alley, meaning you can only access it by walking or using special buggies for your luggage. This setup keeps the area tranquil and private, while still being near major sights in the city. Every morning, we enjoyed visiting Piazza Centrale and Piazza Duomo after breakfast at the hotel restaurant, where there are many restaurants and shops to explore. Additionally, you can see the Museo del Corallo if you're interested.
Many of the hotel rooms come with a balcony or terrace that offers stunning sea views, perfect for beginning your day! As a guest, you also have access to the swimming pool at the nearby Hotel Giordano. If you're searching for a charming, well-run place for a long stay or a special occasion like a wedding, this hotel is an excellent choice.
19/10/2025: Ate dinner here last night. Stopped by on our way to Villa Cimbrone and made a 7pm reservation, but showed up just after 6:30 when the gardens at Villa Cimbrone closed. We were immediately seated and served bread and cocktails before the kitchen opened. Amazing experience. Everything was delicious, including vegan options.

01/07/2025: Locale semplice e servizio non affettato, non sembra un ristorante stellato, nemmeno nei servizi igienici. Ma conquista con le proposte del menù degustazione e per il gusto originale e studiato. Colpiti dal pomodoro nelle diverse consistenze di cottura e dalla minestra dai 50 ingredienti! Giovane chef con stella davvero meritata !!
27/05/2025: Ieri insieme ad una coppia di amici abbiamo visitato questo ristorante che era da tempo nella lista degli stellati ai quali volevo far visita.
La delusione è stata davvero tanta! Una serie di scelte sbagliate ma cercando di essere quanto piu oggettiva possibile credo che principalmente questa delusione parti dalla zuppa dei 50 ingredienti... un attentato!
La cena inizia con il benvenuto dell'evoluzione del ragù, molto carina come idea seguito da un ostrica che è piaciuta molto a tutti.
A seguire questo cocktail di gamberi rivisitato, con crema di zucchine e verdure che lasciavano un sapore amarostico al palato, ma che comunque abbiamo provato ad apprezzare. Ah... un mio commensale si è ritrovato un guscio, presumibilmente di pistacchio, nel cocktail e davvero stava per rompersi un dente. Fatta presente questa cosa al cameriere gli è stato risposto che avrebbe riferito ma il fatto che nessuno poi si sia avvicinato a scusarsi, nè tanto meno sia stata fatta un accortezza , in un ristorante di questa portata, ci ha lasciato davvero perplessi. Ma andiamo avanti... A seguire la zuppa!!! Io non so come possa essere concepita come antipasto! decisamente una porzione enorme di verdure, frutta e pesce che ci ha messo KO. Un mappazzone direbbe il caro Barbieri. Nonostante non rientrasse nelle mie corde l ho mangiata tutta ma dopo non sono riuscita ad apprezzare piu nulla. Sapori troppo intensi uno dietro l altro, non un sorbetto, non un qualcosa che t facesse pulire il palato prima di passare alla portata successiva. Nell insieme la cena è stata davvero sbilanciata, sentivo solo un bisogno d acqua o di qualcosa d fresco e ad ogni portata era un agonia. Una serie di piatti spinti, nulla che equilibrasse. La scelta di servire poi due primi con lo stesso formato di pasta, due spaghetti con note anche molto simili, spinti sul sapido, non l ho capita. Magari fossero stati nn so, un risotto ed uno spaghetto, invece no, tutto molto piatto. Li ho dovuti lasciare perche davvero non si riusciva. Poi la polpessa con scarole, ancora una volta un gusto forte e questa volta mi sento di dire nn spinta , ma decisamente sapida. Se l avessi finita sarei andata a vomitare. Poi sul finale il dolce, che avendo i lamponi almeno ci ha rinfrescato un pò il palato.
Nn ci è stato chiesto se volessimo un caffè o un amaro, nulla, ci siamo alzati a pagare e siamo andati via.
Un ristorante di questa portata non può costruire un percorso degustazione con cosi tanta approssimazione.
In ogni stellato visitato sono sempre andata via con il desiderio di ritornarci, con un esperienza vissuta oltre alla semplice cena, mi dispiace dirlo ma qui nn c è stato nulla di tutto ciò.
Tornati a casa siamo tutti corsi in bagno, con la pancia gonfissima di quelle verdure, davvero un tentato omicidio.

30/04/2025: Qué buena comida casera. Es la primera vez que siento que encontré comida como mi abuela solía hacer en un restaurante (y era una buena cocinera! ) Todo estaba absolutamente delicioso (el horno de leña hace todo mejor! ) y el servicio muy amable.

05/05/2025: Ci sono stato con la famiglia il primo maggio. Location stupenda. Personale accogliente e gentile. Buona lista dei vini. Antipasti ottimi anche se le quantità erano scarse. Primi ottimi. Crollo verticale sul filetto alla brace: duro, secco ed insapore. L’ho fatto presente al ristoratore a sua domanda e si è scusato amabilmente. Piccola nota: fanno pagare anche il limoncello. Ma ci ritornerò.
