Really enjoyed my dinner at Vini da Gigio. The atmosphere was cozy and authentic, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The food was delicious, especially the seafood pasta, and everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The wine recommendation was also great and matched the meal perfectly.
Overall, it was one of my favorite restaurants in Venice and I would definitely come back again.

Finding a restaurant in Venice that actually respects food is harder than it should be. Too many menus built for one-time visitors. Too many plates going through the motions.
Then there’s Vini da Gigio.
Tucked away in Cannaregio, away from the worst of the crowds, this is not a place trying to feed tourists. This is a place that cooks. Properly.
No reservation. Just luck.
We got a table, but don’t count on it. Book if you’re smart.
The room feels lived in. Warm, a little tight, the kind of place where plates move fast and conversations stay low. No theatrics, no unnecessary charm. Just focus.
I had grilled eel with fried polenta.
And that’s when it clicks.
The eel, rich, slightly smoky, perfectly handled. No mud, no heaviness, just clean, deep flavor. The polenta crisp on the outside, soft inside, doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, grounding the dish without stealing anything from it.
It’s the kind of plate you don’t overanalyze. You just keep eating.
The wine list holds its own. Thoughtful, regional, no obvious shortcuts. Someone here cares about what ends up in your glass.
Is it cheap? No. It’s Venice.
But for what you get, it feels right.
Because this wasn’t just a good meal.
It was the best dinner I had in the city.
And in a place where mediocrity is easy to find, Vini da Gigio stands out by doing something simple.
Taking food seriously. 🐺

I went there for dinner.
The building is lovely and enchanting. ☺️
I felt that many of the appetizers were a bit watery.
The risotto was delicious!
I suppose it's unavoidable given the location, but the prices were a bit high.

We dined at Vini Da Gigio last night with another couple and had been really looking forward to the experience. The food largely lived up to expectations—well-prepared, flavorful, and clearly reflecting the restaurant’s reputation.
Unfortunately, the service fell short in ways that significantly affected the evening. We waited quite a while to receive our menus, and then again before anyone came to take our order. While not ideal, we were willing to overlook this given how enjoyable the meal itself was.
What truly detracted from the experience, however, was being asked to settle the bill and vacate the table while we were still having dessert, so it could be turned over for the next seating. That kind of pressure felt out of place in a restaurant of this caliber and disrupted what should have been a relaxed and memorable evening.
In the end, while the kitchen delivered, the overall experience did not match the level one expects here. A disappointing finish to what could have been a lovely night.

Such a beautiful spot in Venice, very cozy, romantic atmosphere with a really charming vibe.
The staff were incredibly friendly, respectful, and made us feel very welcome throughout the whole experience.
The wine was honestly the best we had in Venice. And the food… I can’t say enough. The risotto and pasta were outstanding, and the oysters were absolutely incredible.

Food was okay, service was okay. Being objetive I didn’t like it took them 1 hour to bring the food and people that were before us were served first. Tip was already included in the bill which I don’t mind when the service is flawless.

Excellent cuisine, clearly inspired by Venetian tradition, especially seafood (but with the guarantee of Venetian-style liver). The overwhelming presence of Venetians, evidenced by their accents, confirms the promise of respect for the territory. The creamed cod is unmissable, as are the scallops. The gnocchi with artichokes and clams is original and well-executed. The fish fillet is a masterpiece: delicately flavored, seasoned with vegetables but clean and rare. Service is extremely fast and precise. A wide selection of quality wines. The desserts are excellent! Friendly staff. Very reasonable prices.

Popped in on a Thursday night peak dinner service and got a table for my mum and I, felt lucky. The raw seafood platter was amazing, but I wish we got two oysters with it as there is no way to share an oyster and we shared the platter. My mum's duck ragu pasta was delicious, and I went for a traditional liver and polenta dish, that I didn't enjoy that much, but I think it was my choice and preference, not the cooking. The wine list was absolutely amazing, we had some great recommendations from an Italian server who spoke English to us and French to the table next to us! Impressive service. The team were incredible.
