Ristorante Al Castagneto In Priola

Very unique restaurant, and really delicious food. I have been to this restaurant several times, and each time I have been amazed by the quality of the food. At lunch, when the place is usually full of people, you can taste different types of appetizers, first courses or second courses. When there is a mushroom menu you can sample numerous mushrooms cooked in a truly excellent way, and all different. Obviously you can also just order a plate of pasta, but the truly special thing is being able to taste the many things that the family who runs the restaurant cooks. It is a home-style cuisine, like the one you usually find at home or in the villages. The place is also very particular, everything has remained as it was fifty years ago but, as the owner explained to us, not due to neglect or carelessness, but precisely by choice. The owners wanted to keep the place as it has been for many decades. There is a whole family that works in this restaurant, and everyone gives their best. The restaurant is very strange at first, when you don't know it. There is no menu, and the price of the food is unclear. But once you've tried it you'll want to go back every day because it's something you usually don't find anywhere. With €25/30 each you eat lots of different things, and you enjoy eating all these particular things. If you go to any restaurant for that amount you simply eat a second course and a beer, and it's a completely different thing. Don't go if you're looking for a modern, gourmet restaurant or one with sophisticated food. Go if you want to spend some time with friends and have fantastic but simple food. The cooks are exceptional. For dinner you can only eat early, around h. 7.30pm/8pm.

Non chiedete il menù. Affidatevi a una cucina veramente genuina, alla tradizione locale, a prodotti dell’orto del vicino. Non guardatevi intorno per criticare arredamento e look anni ‘70. Chiudete gli occhi e aprite le papille gustative a 360 gradi! So così potrete apprezzare i piatti che la cuoca (credo) da 45 anni propone a chi passa da Priola o ci lavora o ci vive.

We stopped for a quick lunch.... the pasta with mushrooms and the Milanese were delicious!! The ingredients are very fresh and cooked very well... very kind staff... an experience definitely worth repeating!!

Il locale è molto intimo, semplice, gradevole e pulito; l’atmosfera, familiare; il cibo, abbondante e ben cucinato; il personale accoglie e segue con gentilezza, discrezione e simpatia, anche nel proporre i piatti, senza forzare nelle scelte; disponibilità e flessibilità anche nella composizione delle porzioni; il servizio è veloce e attento; il clima rilassato predispone a trascorrere un momento piacevole; prezzi più che onesti. Sono andata via soddisfatta. Esperienza senz’altro positiva, da ripetere e da consigliare.

Appena prima di giungere a Garessio in direzione Ormea, c'è questo ristorante. Cucina molto buona ed a prezzi economici. Siamo ritornati per un pranzo a base di funghi... non ho parole...solo posso dire che è stata un'esperienza fantastica. Consiglio una sosta se si è da quelle parti.
