Piccola Osteria Andes In Mantova

Good cuisine with specialties. The waiters could smile, it's much nicer! Especially since we had to wait a long time to order desserts

A rare experience. The staff (the head waiter) seemed very stressed and not very friendly, but we were then shown the reserved table and given a menu card in Italian and when we had spoken English to them on arrival we thought that there is only this menu card. After we had sat and translated on the phone for some time, the waiter came by and asked if we wanted a menu card in English, which we naturally wanted. After that it took some time to order, but then it also went quickly, in fact so quickly that they didn't get to clear and prepare the next course's side dishes before it came crashing into the middle of it all. It seemed clumsy and unprofessional. They also don't pour into the glasses, but maybe that's not to be expected for a place like this? It was really difficult to get attention. The food was reasonably good, but the poor service ruined it somewhat. The head waiter was almost running around the tables most of the time, but without anything in his hands, which seemed disruptive and ineffective. We have eaten at the neighbor's place before and it was at a somewhat higher level.

Super trattoria in the heart of Mantua on the back of the Church of Sant'Andrea where there is a quiet square... excellent service... beautiful location, typical Mantuan food! Recommended 🤙🏻

I stopped in this place thinking about the motor ship Andes, convinced that there was a typical Mantuan cuisine. The cuisine is predominantly Apulian. I took some herb ravioli, I thought they were handmade but the pastry was industrial. In addition to the fish, the mixed fried food contained battered vegetables, perhaps it should have been specified on the menu. The grilled octopus is good. I didn't like that the waiter, returning from clearing up a table, passed the cheese bowl to his colleague, taking it from a dirty plate he was holding. Overall rating 5. Product quality can be improved.

A place for tourists, you can find better...we stopped for lunch, slow, hasty and unfriendly service, we waited more than half an hour to have a first course and a caprese, which was basically just mozzarella, the tomato was only one single cherry tomato cut into very fine slices. The place was full, but it's not even very big, yet the waiters ran back and forth out of breath, the waitress-cashier had a long face and was rude to all customers included. I'm sorry, it must have been a bad day, working with people isn't easy, I know, but we're not there.

We ate typical dishes from Mantua, we enjoyed it very much, everything was very good. We will be back!

Small restaurant in the historic center, with about ten tables inside but many more outside. On the menu there is a wide choice of dishes from Mantua but also some dishes from Puglia. Both the cold cuts and cheese platters are very good, the macaroni with donkey stew is excellent, as is the stew with polenta and the mixed boiled meat. Courteous and attentive staff. Reservation recommended

A very pleasant discovery: Delicious local Osteria in the center of Mantua. The seats outside, with a light sun, are a real blessing. Excellent quality cutting boards and first courses, spectacular taste, fast and impeccable service. Absolutely nothing to say! I highly recommend it if you are in Mantua even just passing through. It's not your typical tourist spot at all. Perfect quality/price!
