I struggled on how to rate The Cook…its setting, service, and wine pairing were superb. However it’s the food I came for. I had the fish tasting menu given the Ligurian coastal setting of Genova. But there was only one exceptional dish, the risotto. Frankly the wow factor was the bread service with the pesto spread. And while the petit four was interestingly presented there was way too much, as if making up for other courses. The price point for the meal and pairing was good. I also found it odd that while there were only 3 tables with patrons and the chef walked through the dining room at least a dozen times, he made no effort to engage with the diners.

Da Cook si va per trascorrere una serata in intimita' tra coccole culinarie e location suggestiva. Una sala, pochi tavoli e si va nel mondo creato dallo chef che gira tra cucina e clienti. Io ho avuto modo di essere "curato" in sala da una persona speciale. Ricordo bene il suo accento calabrese. Come ha ben detto una cliente, qui si va a esperire le alchimie dello chef. Porzioni e prezzi da stellato. Ma cosi' e'. Bella serata.

07/03/2024: The Colomba di Pasqua in the window lured me in, and I was thrilled to be able to buy it by the slice! Super delicious!! They had a vegan croissant which on the menu they called vegan brioche. Was nice to see the option but it wasn't the best. Very dense. The cookies and other pastries looked good but I didn't get a chance to try.
05/02/2024: Excellent pastry shop and cafe. Too bad the non-carbonated sparkling water and the chipped brioche saucer. Anyway, worth a visit for a quality tea or coffee break

Strainer

08/05/2024: Very nice restaurant located by the sea, in a quiet location. The dishes were delicious.
02/05/2024: I was on Tuesday evening for dinner at the Strainer restaurant in Portofino on the occasion of an award given to a friend, and it was a beautiful evening accompanied by excellent dishes with attention to detail and a staff who was always attentive and punctual in table service, I would say excellent, not to mention of the owner Mr. Carmine, a very knowledgeable and helpful person, friendly and very sociable, the location speaks for itself and I invite you to go and visit him as I will definitely be back to taste his wonderful dishes, thank you Carmine thank you Giuliana for the pleasant evening
